yes Leicester, Ive heard good things Re Rockingham as a bike circuit, my mates did it 2yrs back and thought it a good circuit. We are looking at Mallory as its where us 3x all took our bike lessons so thought it a decent idea to make it our first full circuit too

18th of July through Hottrax I reckon, any tips for a track virgin? apart from rubber side down

get some heat in your tyres before you start cranking the bike over

take your mirrors right off so when you crash it don't break the screen as well.
wish I was told that tip.

wish i knew what to do when the rear spins up when leant right over and then you wouldn't have needed to know about mirrors breaking your screen

the MSV trackday that i did was good. good medical cover anyway.

Ive had that twice now, managed to keep the throttle open so it eventually caught up- no drama

I can imagine its all about track time and riding in different conditions too, do you get any tips and info when on a track day, peeps OK with the neebies or are we going to get the point and laugh
It should be fun- cant wait

the MSV days are novice only, or another day would be intermediate or advanced. on the novice day, it was split into 3 sessions per hour with 2 of those sessions for bikes and one for cars. whilst the cars were on, a couple of the instructors gave talks in the garages about technique, line etc you could also have a 1 on 1 with an instructor for a session

Track day tips.

Make sure the bike is up to it, brakes, suspension, fluid levels, tyres etc.

drop the tyre pressures to 31f 31r cold and then re-check and reset to 35 35 when hot.

Take it easy for the first few laps of each session, don't be the one who falls off first lap out of the pits and stops the session before it's begun. there is always, always one.

You need to keep yourself going as well, eat regulary through the day and drink plenty of water, especially if it's hot. Nothing like dehidration to kill your concetration levels.
Dont be tempted by the massive stoggy lunches as you will feel crap first session out in the afternoon. Have a jacket and beans to give you some energy for the later sessions.

Towards the end of the day if your feeling abit tired then sit out the last session (specially if your riding home afterwards) and think back to what a great day you've had and use the fact everyone else is still on track to get your shit together, get your piccies and get out before the rush.

Above all enjoy it and use the instructors, they are more than happy to help you out and you will learn loads from them..

Hope that helps

edit:
I used No Limits for all but one of my days and never had any probs at all. Focussed events was the other and the breifing as abit ott on the focussed event but I think they had recently had a bad smash on one of thier days so they were laying it on abit but also the guy who runs it can be a bit of a knob.. but the day ran smoothly enough.

good tips thanks, especially the food, nothing worse than trying to get work done after a greasy breakfast roll- makes me feel like crap.

New brakes up front- fluid and pads now bedded in, tyres checked and fluids toppped up already, rear shock feels a bit soft but happy to go with it as I can ride OK. Not a great deal left to do. track day booked at mallory for the 18th July novice of course.

How long are you classed as a novice for, 1, 2 or 3x track days or half hour if youre competent ?
