i only really come on this forum to see what people are doing to their cars and whats for sale, but i have a 1983 fiesta mk1 Quartz and decided to ruin a perfectly good resin mk2 model in an attempt to make a mk1 out of it ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
fully stripped

![](https://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w496/Dr_z50r/DSC03601_zps306f535e.jpg)
only 1500 made, mines number 761
![](https://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w496/Dr_z50r/DSC03605_zps897c70ed.jpg)
i got the majority of the paint off by soaking in Dot5.1 halfrauds brake fluid, most things you would normally use for removing paint cant be used on this because the resin will melt and soften
Heres the real beginning, slicing into a model that often fetches £80
![](https://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w496/Dr_z50r/DSC03619_zps277d6ae2.jpg)
the plan is to leave the arches and side skirts on like the series x bodykit you can get... if you're lucky! then knock up some bumpers from plasticard along with a grille and when its complete i will sort out lighting for it... going to be a long project as i hardly get any time to get into the garden during the day and do the dusty stuff and the weather recently has been crap so nothing has been done for a week or so and im going to have to figure out a way to remove the white paint before i can do anything with filler
what do you think?

finally worked out how to remove all the paint from the shell, first i have to chip off all the clear laquer with a stanley knife (painfull very messy and time consuming) then leave it in the dot5.1 for a bit, give it a scrub every now and then untill the paint comes off, wash it under the tap with lots of washing up liquid, chip off the remaining bits of laquer, dip it again, give it a good brushing, then wash it under the tap again
only done the bonnet so far but will be doing the rest of the model soon

hi mate only just read your post!
spent a few hours working on it (although theres not much to show)
basically i spent those hours making sure that i get the measurements and shapes right for the side view of the rear panel and front wings, also made a plug in the shape of a one piece headlight and grille combo so that i can set it into the filler and pull it out once set, easy peasy! (so he says)
no idea how im going to go about the bonnet, it has two angled pieces in it and at 1:18th scale they are something like 1mm high![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
hopefully when this model is completed i will be investing in materials to be able to cast them and sell complete with windows and everything to anybody who wants them, but at the moment the model is a long way off that stage!
i think it must be allot harder doing this with a resin model though, its so easy for me to accidentally give the model a deep scratch and if i dropped it once it would break![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
