why are you trying to paint the aluminium?
give the resin inserts a dust coat of primer first mate , then black and then the silver last.

Colin, when i painted mine i didn't relise i had to rub the resin insert down or use primer,i just used matt black model paint, let it dry then did the spoke edges with silver model paint.

the merc was demolished beyound recognition and the engine block was sitting in half on the floor....lol it was also a customers car on its wauy back to them after being repaired
she was not to bad after the accident but things got worse after the son came along and have progressed from there .
she has now had three ops in total and fingers crossed this one will make her life a lot easier.
That sounds horrible what happened, hope all goes will.

Dad had an accident in a escort estate way back in the day (at least 26 year ago), hit a bus Got metal pins in his leg and still suffers if its realy cold, just akeing.

This is waht ive been making over the past few days.

The show plates fit onto the Mk3 Escort plates. Have done about 60 different designs (most Ford related).

The reg plate is smaller but thats going on my blue Transit van.

My Arctic Blue RS1600i will be having a set rather than the German plates its currently got.

If anybody has any Escort Mk3 number plates they dont need, then please let me know.

Striped the black line off one side so far.

Not gonna add the decals just yet, will wait till when I get back off my holiday.

i use matt black from halfords mate , then pick the spokes out with silver . i like the silver between the spokes as it gives the effect of a brake disc behind them!
but thats just me .

Bit of an update on my Merc CLK DTM , the windows have been a real pain in the ass but they are nice and clean and scratch free now !
replaced the sponsor decals with a couple of coats of humbrol gunmetal so that the windscreens look like they have sunvisors on , touring car style..
The lower front grill was crap plastic , so i dremelled out the metal and replaced it with some very fine wire mesh from an old food blender filter (knew it would come in handy ! )..
The chrome grill and star are now satin black , just gotta find a suitable orange/red paint for it now , or a lime green kawasaki type colour , cant decide which though !

Sorry the pics are crap...

Do you think with kawasaki green it would need white primer .. the flash makes the grey primer alot lighter.

Some better pics.. love the shape of this car

put a lot of effort into this one..smoothed off mould lines added lots of detail...its going on ebay when its sprayed and finished to help finance an AVO MK1 ..or a MK2 escort probably the latter as the MK1 is a bit out of my price range now after having to fit a new CO2 sensor and a front tyre on my car this weekend...arse !

I dont have any alloy pipe for an exhaust , but i have 2 lengths of brass tubing suitable for tailpipes , one is 5mm the other 7mm , the thickness is less than half a mil.. both are approx 30 cm long..but i can cut you some lengths off to make a few tailpipes..

I think resin has a release agent , so its probably best before painting or spraying to wash in detergent (hot water , fairy liquid ! ) I always wash the bits i need to spray ,gets greasy fingermarks off and the like..
