your best bet mate to be honest is to take everything of the shell buy some nitro morse soak the car in it strip all the paint off to bare shell then give the car a right good clean in soapy water a few times then use some alchohol wipes on the car use some acrylic primer taking your time dont over do it and try using a hairdryer to heat up the shell and the paint will apply even and smoothly and bond on impact due to the heat them leave an hour or 2 then gently rub over the primer with some 1200 grit wet and dry using hot soapy water again let the shell dry using a hair dryer again to warm the metal also drying out all the little crevises wipe over ith an alchohol wipe again then apply the paint same as primer hold the can around 12" away from the model and spray evenly that way you should get a nice smooth shiny even finish and will make the model display far better.
i realise reading it is easier than doing it but if you take your time mate it will work out good luck and get some pics up when done always a good idea to have paint stripper sand paper alchohol wipes primer paint and laquer in if your planning on doing a model as you never know when you will need them lol

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Just seen this thread (god knows how I missed it!!!!) - some awesome work there. How did you all get into doing it? I've got loads of 1/18 models at home and wouldnt mind trying it. Havent been through all pages but do I presume its just a case of stripping them down, painting, buying aftermarket bits from ebay (UK I presume?). Do all bits almost fit each other or is it brand specific (ie, Burago etc)???
Very impressed by them all!
Cheers

most parts fit all cars mate most of the ppl on here build the kits from filler and putty you can find a lot of parts on www.ebay.de which is ther german site just search 1:18 tuning
english ebay is getting more and more parts now though and mentalist dave off here is the uk import 1:18 wheel supplier and does the various styles of wheels in the colour of your choice for a very good cost also different colour brakes
if there is anything you need you can guarentee there will be someone on here with it
get some pics up of the models you have would like to see

lol, nah no yellow scoob!! I bought a few of the 1/18 (could be 1/21) models in the US a few years back, think i have a white scooby!! Off the top of my head got an RX7, 350Z, DC5 Mugen Integra, Red esc cos, black esc cos (i tihnk!), red, white, silver, black, light blue, yellow f150 lightnings, white 3 door etc etc...
Where do you guys get the small sticker kits from? Do they come as packs (ie - Texaco rep) or do you get them made/printed?
