like I said I don't doubt theyve got many thousands of happy customers its just my experience of them is that they had very poor service after sale , to levels id class as incompetent, where they just passed the buck especially when I needed their help the most.

I understand that but Flux is the face if it all and the ones to do the donkey work (or not as the case has been) so any dealings is with them and not the insurer directly. Same with a claim, it's the broker that deals with it.

If it was with the insurer directly I doubt I'd of had the issues that I did.

Although strangely some insurers would not cover me or my address but a broker had that same company that refused me got me a policy with them.
The industry doesn't make sense what so ever.

why not think up a list of cars that you can afford, but are not run of the mill, then phone a broker and go through the list trying to find one that you can afford to insure.

Young drivers have a tendency to think that hey are better than they are!

stats on the web found in 5 mins:

Twenty per cent of those gaining a full licence crash within their first year and pass rates for learner drivers have fallen by nearly a fifth since the late 1980s, according to a study.

Males: In 2010, the motor vehicle death rate for male drivers and passengers ages 16 to 19 was almost two times that of their female counterparts.

Teens driving with teen passengers: The presence of teen passengers increases the crash risk of unsupervised teen drivers. This risk increases with the number of teen passengers.

Newly licensed teens: Crash risk is particularly high during the first months of licensing.

good luck!

Just letting all interested know that I just insured my boy on his ka with endsleigh insurance.
He's 18 now but only just passed his test. Got a quote of £1500/£1600 for the years insurance which was the cheapest without a black box which I don't agree with, with one it was £1100. I ended up opting for their accelerated NCB policy though which I thought was good. Pay £900 for 6 months insurance but get a years NCB. You then must insure yourself with them for another year but of course that works out a bit better because you get it at approx 30% less so say £1000 or so but don't forget that's 18 months insurance. After the 18 months you get 2 years NCB and your free to go with any company you like.
Nice thing with endsleigh is there's no night driving restrictions, no black box and very few restrictions, it's like a proper insurance policy rather than the gash they come up with for young-stars now !!
Just FYI mushers!!!!

That's not bad at all!

I have my mrs on my policy now and as a new driver loads wanted a black box fitted.

Like hell am I having that.

Starting off is crap but 2 years NCB for 18 months is a good little deal.

When messing with quotes for my mrs the newer and more expensive the car the cheaper it was.

Ford GT's and Aston Martins were cheaper than old bangers.

Hi

If anyone one here had had a problem and wants me to look into and see what happened please PM me your details and I will take a look into this for you.
If it was our fault I can only apologise and if I look into the file hopefully I can stop this happening in the future.
As I can see that some of the comments are not are normal practice I find it hard to believe if it was all true but without looking into it I cant advise.

Regards

When I passed my test 10 years ago now I was getting quoted over a grand,

I paid £120 to do Pass Plus course and it counted as a years no claims and dropped my insurance to 680 or so

Course was a piece of piss too

Pass plus made no difference in 1999 when I did it. Non of the insurers cared.

Nick B, being a squaddie was high risk but a few insurance companies classed my car as garaged.
"Where's it parked at night?"
Behind 12 foot razor wire fences with 2 armed guards and a dog patrol.
"We'll put that as garaged then"

Ive got 4 months till I can take my test. I was trying think out the box to most teenagers. Havent done any quotes yet. Id like to go for mk3 escort or mk3 fiesta but as some have said there easy to steal. However a mk3 fiesta 1.6 si is quite low insurance group I think! Might try for a 1.4-1.6 puma see if I get any luck!

Its just stupid but most newer cars are dear so starting out in a old banger or somthing seems more better but insurers would charge you more for an old cheap £300 banger than a new car that cost anywhere from £5000 upwards

Get something cheap and cheerful (1.0 or 1.2 Corsa are really cheap on insurance), run it for a year or two, get your NCB and experience up, then go for something with a bit more oomph!
You're gonna get stung going straight from nothing to a 1.4-1.6 Puma, so bite the bullet and bide your time.
My lad's 20 now. Had a 1.2 Corsa at 17 1/2 (£2k TPFT insurance for the first year), ran that until last October, now he's got a Mk1 Focus RS and pays £1400 fully comp.

mini's were very reasonable if i remember rightly, but they do vary from model to model. choose the right one and save a packet. better to spend the money on yourself rather than flinging bucketloads to an insurance company.
good luck, i know it's not easy, but take it from an old timer, it does get better.
they wanted £3500 to insure my 3dr cos in 1992. now it's £150!

Try directline, I gained ncb as an additional driver and after the 1st year they gave me 2 years ncb, worth a try they were always cheapest for me.

Hi there guys.

Sounds like a mixed-bag when it comes to feed-back dealing with us. I'm glad some of you have had good experiences with us and our services (with the Flux Rescue recovery etc and our specialist quotes).

When it comes to accidents, it is true, we are a broker and therefore have no say in how easy it is to deal with our Underwriters during claims etc. However, as we are a specialist broker we are always after feedback related to the companies we are using. If any of our clients have issues with an Insurer we have put them with, we will always want feedback from this so that we can try forward this on to their senior Underwriting Managers and improve the way they deal with our Customers.

Unfortunately Insurance policies do not cover you for being towed from an accident etc as it is simply not part of an Insurance policy. They cover you for damages, and thefts etc (depending on your cover) but your own Insurer will never automatically send out a recovery truck etc if you have an accident. They will, however, claim back any recovery costs from a Third party if the accident was not your fault.

If you have had an incident that's not your fault, the Third Party's insurers will always jump on the opportunity to 'help you out' as soon as they can...this is purely becuase it minimises the potential costs that you might try to claim against them. It is a sad fact, but they will do whatever they can to prevent you claiming higher amounts from them.

With regards to problems with payment details, we use different payment details for the deposit than we do for the instalments. In fact, if you have set up an instalment plan with us, it is done through a Finance company. We take the deposit using a card, but we give the finance company your Sort-Code and Account number for the Direct Debits.
If your following payments then decline, the finance company will contact you and us to advise of this. They will then try again and if there is no luck they will contact you again and give you a certain amount of time to get back to us (or them) to make the monthly payment before the finance agreement is cancelled. After this is cancelled you would then have a further period of time where we would contact you asking for the payment in full, otherwise regrettably the Insurance has to be cancelled.
In these situations, the finance company and ourselves would contact the client a number of times before the policy is cancelled. This is why it is extremely important to check your contact details (email/mobile/address etc) when you get your first documents through in case we do have to urgently contact you.

We will never just 'cancel' a policy unless we have no other option, and even when we have, we will write to you (again) to advise you as we cannot LEGALLY do otherwise.
-----

Finally, with regards to reviews and feedback on websites, unfortunately about 90% of feedback for most Insurers on forums is negative...as it is only natural to 'vent' about any dissatisfaction that you have had with an Insurance Company. This is the same with any Insurer in the uk.

I will dispence with the myth now that negative feedback is 'ignored' as a lot of people think. The reason we are members of so many forums is partly to give advice and quotes as a specialist Broker, but also (and more importantly) to take ANY comments on board and make sure our staff are trained in the correct manner as well as making sure the Insurers we use are the best for our clients.

We are always grateful for any positive feedback from customers, of course, as we pride ourselves on our good level of service.

I hope this helps shed a bit of light on any issues with us and/or our Underwriters in the past.

If anyone has any questions, queries or requires any quotes (given our specialist nature) please do not hesiate to PM me and I will organise a courtessy call or message back.

Many Thanks,

Dan

Flux never ever give me a quote when online. Soon as i call them, they cannot be beaten!!!

Just insured my cossie the other day for £773 fc, all mods declared. 27yrs old and 8yrs ncb. And in NI, where we get nailed on insurance!!! The closest quote i got online was £1187 from Admiral. And it was a massive excess and no windscreen cover

Some of the quotes these days are mad, I passed January 2013 and I was on a box for a year....God it was boring, I don't drive excessively over the speed limit but that thing took all the fun out of driving! I paid 1300 on first year for MK5 fiesta 1.3, this year I'm paying 711 same car but I managed to milk direct line for their deals. My Mum has a policy for both car and home insurance so got multicar and all. For some reason though, it's over 100quid more to insure a Mk3 Fiesta 1.1 than a MK5 ZS.....Stupid really. We are expected to pass one of the hardest tests, spend a fortune on that then astronomical insurance!

You're expected to pass the hardest test?

Are you having laugh?

That's the attitude that makes the
High cost of insurance.

"Oh god that was so hard to pass!
I'm now an amazing driver!"

When in reality just passing a test means you reached the
Minimum mong score to go and
Kill some poor cunt because
The test is hard. But make sure your shitty speakers are turned up high and your stoned.

Its the most comprehensive test to date in this country so in comparison someone who passed in 2000, I sat a more regulated test than they did which Is what I'm saying. Trust me, in no way do I think I'm an F1 driver, but an awful lot people on the road whove held their license for years aren't exactly on the ball themselves when I've ridden a bike to school my whole life and the amount of nutters who had almost caused an accident "didn't see me" or "sorry I wasn't looking", driving round on their phone and people who are too busy doing their makeup to react at traffic lights and I see it every day now that I drive. If anything riding a bike taught me most of what I needed look out for on the road hence why I'm still driving and I'm not a statistic. Fair enough there's a lot of absolute tools my age who drive round built up areas double the limit but I'm not one of them and I certainly don't have a subwoofer taking up room in my car or do I dui....

I passed my test in 1999.

I taught my mrs to drive and sat in the back of the car when she passed and I can say it's definitely easier now than back then.

Flux simply the best.
One of only two companies in the UK to insure my car + Nitrous. Can only say good things about there service & a pleasure to deal with-cost £900. Ive had a cheaper quote this year from the other company but loyalty is both ways.

Quick Reply: insurance for young drivers prices ridiculous
