Default Declaring Modifications To Insurer?

Hi guys, I'm not a car enthusiast or anything, but I just want to know what I can and cannot get away with for modifications and insurers.

I have a Fiesta 1.25 zetec MK4.. and I have just got my 1 years no claims and have only recently made a few changes to my car, I keep checking insurance quotes without any mods and its gone from £2000 a year too £600 which is obviously nice, but I would like to declare my mods and be legal..

I will tell u exactly what I have done to it.

I have replaced front and back bumper with Zetec S bumpers, I have replaced front lights with angel eyes aswell as changing the back lights to lexus looking lights, I have zetec s alloys on, a new exhaust and an induction kit..

Do I need to declare the front and back bumpers and alloys? as like I said im not a car enthusiast I don't know a big lot about cars and for all I know it could have came like that.. the lights and exhaust is obvious and the induction kit is obviously another modification, I just want to know about the wheels and bumpers really.. because I have been checking quotes declaring it all and its like £1800 again lol but if I just declare the lights exhaust and induction its £1200 cheapest I've seen, does ne1 know what the best insurance company is I can go with ? any information is kind enough.

Thanks!

You should declare every modification to the car that it did not come with from the factory.

If you don't then you might aswell not have insurance. As your insurance is covering a standard 1.25 zetec MK4 while your driving round in a modified 1.25 zetec MK4.

you've answered your own question really, the fact your quotes are going up with the mods declared, shows that it matters to the insurance company.

just a tip all the quotes you have got, these will be logged, if you do have to make a claim they will probably check back through them and be looking for the mods when the assessor comes to check the car...

also as said above, not declaring any mods can leave you uninsured, or get your insurance cancelled, you really dont want to see a quote if that happens.

It's definatley worth declaring all mods as insurance companys will try anything to get out of claim plus if you have a crash and it's your fault and the insurance company void your policy due to undeclared mods you'll also be bumed by the police for driving without insurance.
