Default Insurance and points

Hi,

I've got a 'few' points on my licence which have now expired (i understand that this occurs after 4 years for an IN10) so i want to send my licence off to the DVLA and have them removed.

My question is, how long do you have to declare them to an insurance company for? Someone said to me it is 5 years but surely this can't be the case as why would i declare, and be penalised for I would imagine, something that won't even be on my licence anymore??

Im sure it's 5 years thats why when you get a quote they ask if you have had any convictions in the last 5 years

I think you could be right, but what a load of bollocks that is! So even though i've got a clean licence i'm still going to getting penalised for points that i don't actually have anymore?!

Well fair!

exactly right. i once got banned for 4 years many years ago for no insurance and when i got my licence back it was clean with no mention of the offences. i blagged it for a year and got away with not declaring it to my insurer . pot luck if anything happens within that undeclared year though as you could well be fucked over for it if it does.

Banned for 4 years?!? That's a bit strong!!

I know what you're saying mate and there was a time when i would do that straight away, but like i said i got a decent quote anyway so it's ok, i'm happy to pay it this year and next year they'll all come off and it'll go down. Plus my girlfriend would literally kill me to death if anything happened! Plus i don't think i could bear the following few years of 'i told you so' speeches!
