I looked at insurance for a Cosworth about 3-4 month ago and they were reasonable but had a look a month ago and the quotes had doubled

go with greenlight, you will get discount for your passionford membership and i think abit more for being a gold member

thats what i did and the quote was ALOT less than any other i had got

I tried to insure mine at 20 and it was rediculous, waited till i was 21 and went with greenlight cost about £1500 fully comp with all mods listed

Greenlight won't cover you unless your 21 and have 1 years no claims though

So you are asking about FRONTING basically, and you expect serious answers.

Yeah you can, i'm down as a second driver on the missuses puma and ive got four years ncb for my name..she's got 9yrs ncb (dont know what the min is for full no claims...is it 6yr?), thats on a Direct line policy. tbh it was news to me when I was told by direct line that i could carry on my ncb from my old daily driver when i went onto her policy, but its in black white on our policy docs to confirm.

"FRONTING", where a car is insured by someone else, normally a parent and has the younger driver added as a NAMED driver, where they are in fact the only or MAIN DRIVER.
This is done as the younger person cannot get/afford the insurance as themselves as the POLICYHOLDER taking out the policy.
Insurance rules when listened to are quite clear, and the policyholder is assumed to be the main user, where this is NOT the case, FRONTING has occured, which is illegal, and I hope you get caught if doing this.

insurance companies arent stupid. they will know that the middle aged man or woman isnt really the main driver of the cosworth but the young son who happens to be a named driver is and the premium will likely reflect this. how can it be proved in a crash situation anyway that it isnt co incidence that at the time of any crash just happened to be the first time the son had used the car?
basically he's 20 with no driving/insuring record of his own and no ncb because the bonus is his dads. he wont have a chance.

Wonder how much old mad Rod pays for his insurance......can imagine the insurance company as well if he tried to add some one to his policy...."so Mr Tarry, aged 92...you own a Cossie clocked at 213mph and you just so happen to want to add your son...do you think we were born yesterday Mr Tarry?"

y is that when anyone ask for an option on something they always get abuse on this forum, i agree that young people in this country should have a power restriction but we don't. but being a young driver myself well only just young i agree. as far as i know i never herd about that front line thing i just thought you could and my dad will be driving the car as well as this is not my only car ive drive i drive a 1.1 pug as well so hope this answers all the abuse.

bite the bullet, buy a cheap shitter to run around in for 12 months insured in your own name, get a years ncb then try again for the cossie.

most i've ever paid for mine was just short of a grand when i 1st bought it end of 2004 i was 23 with 2yrs ncb. got it on a classic policy now so doesn't take ncb into account and only costs me £248 a year
