Default Burton Power are fuck*ng useless!!! (with pics)

Thought i would get this off my chest.....

Last Friday i ordered a new gauge mount for my series 2 to replace this one:

i looked on their website and ordered one of these for £40:

however on Monday they had kindly delivered one of these for a Sierra!?:

which doesn't look anything like carbon fibre i'll add.

So on Monday i rung up and let them know of their error and the bloke said you can either send the Sierra one back and we'll exchange it or you can buy the one for the Escort and we'll refund you for the Sierra one.

So i decided to buy a second gauge holder (the right one) for my Escort.

Went to the post office today to pick up my parcel, i got back to the car and opened it (praying!) and saw this.

I couldn't believe it, i already had this and they had charged me nearly £50 for it! Bit of a scam when they are £20 from Nomad!

So i got home (very pissed off by now) and rung them up. First of all the bloke tried to tell me that it was indeed the plastic one in the picture saying that it fits in with the heater controls.......WANKER!

Hung up on that dickhead then rung back and spoke to another bloke. he told me that the plastic gauge mount (one on the website in the second pic^^) are no longer available and that they had sent me the right one. He then said if i was unhappy with it, to send it back and they will refund me.

So in the end i still don't have my gauge holder and i am down by £3 having to pay for two items to be sent back to them by recorded delivery.

I haven't checked my credit card bill yet but i just pray they have refunded me correctly at least!!!!!!!!

I have used Burton before for one or two bits and their products IMO are pretty good, but in future if i need anything off them i will try www.ebay.co.uk !!!! A much safer bet.

So to sum up, Burton power are a bunch of cunts!!!

Had the same problem mate.

Them pressed ally plates are total crap and don't fit very well.

I've reverted back to the original heater vents and gone for a pillar pod instead made by Nomad which are a very good fit.

Matt.

You could always make your own out of a piece of proper carbon fibre (as opposed to "carbon effect" film). Seeing as its a flat panel you should be able to acquire a suitable off-cut from somewhere for peanuts

I can't see the problem? The one they sent you (the Escort one I mean) does fit with the heater controls - it even has the cut outs for the illumination... You just remove the whole unit from the dash, pull the heater knobs off, fit the control box to the back of the new fascia, put a dial kit on the front if you like, then put the knobs back on.... Simple...

Whats the problem?

Do Nomad still sell the mk4 dash-top pod? I seen it before - has 3 spcaes for guages, and sits on top of the dash, on the flat bit above the centre vents, and carries on to cover over the little sotrage space above the glove box?

I was gonna get one for my 3i ages ago, but could only think of one guage to put in it

Gotta be honest, had quite a bit of stuff off em and never really had an issue with the stuff they've sent, on time and correct etc. But as u say their aftersales is shite, when the cam i bought off em fucked up the bloke i spoke to had proper attitude, and really unhelpful. Went direct through the manufacturer in the end and had much better service

I bought one from nomad years ago and unless he has changed his design then it the same as what you got although it was nowhere near £50!

he was trying to tell me that the metal plate (that i have in the car already) is the same as the plastic mount that is shown in the second picture (with the white faced gauges).

the metal plate IMO is rubbish, i thought that the plastic one may be better, guess il never find out now!

you can understand my frustration when i recieve the same metal plate that Nomad sells with a receipt for £45.90 then!

i agree the after sales is shocking the're not helpful and if you really need a specific part not in their catalogue they won't source any parts for you even though you spend $ with them

Update:

After sending back the Sierra fascia (the item which i didn't even order!) they have refunded me £22.91 when i had to pay £28.86 for the item in the first place!!!

I really don't understand how they can make so many mistakes!!

Im getting fed up of having to deal with these cunts.

I've never ordered from Burton solely because they are fookin' expensive

I'd imagine they're useful for all the remanufactured older stuff they do but they're a rip off for anything you can get elsewhere!

Do you have any experience contaction Burton Power by email?
I wrote some mails (3 times) but no answer.

Thx.

they really are shite!

had no end of probs with them posting stuff out on next day delivery which took 2/3 days to get here! complained first couple of times but have given up now....

im local to demon tweeks, but even with postage it is oftern cheaper to buy from burton than tweeks!

best bit was the last things i got from there was a few bits to fit an oil cooler and i then brought the oil cooler off ebay 1hr later than ordering from burtons and the ebay one was here the before 9am next day and the bits from burton were 2 days later!

It may help you out a bit mate but if 'they' cocked up on what they sent you (i.e. wasn't what you asked for or as described/photographed on the net) then THEY not YOU have to pay for all the postage you paid.

Try looking at the Sale of Goods Act and, in particular, 'distance selling' which will confirm what I've said. If they wont pay it then you can a) take them to the Financial Ombudsman or b) take them to small claims where you'll get your money and your costs back.

I'd say normally for a few quid it's not worth it but when people are being complete arseholes (service wise) I always sort 'em out...only way they learn.

Had problems with Turd Power myself....bought one thing and would never use them again...useless isn't the word.

Hope that helps

Dave
