Default FAO Head Guru's

Just a quickie for you,

I have a new head sitting for my cossie which came off a McRae Sport GP-A Escort Cossie.

What i want to know is:

Is it safe to run this with the double valve springs using a STD Ford Timing Belt?

Reason im asking is that the belt snapped on the engine that this head came off and i have been told that it was down to the "Anti Lag Cams" as opposed to the springs. I will NOT be running it with these cams!!

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

Paul.

Its safe to run double valve springs on a standard belt but it does shorten the life of the belt if they are a very high poundage, cams with massively steep opening ramps definately strain the belt more than those with less agressive profiles too.

did wonder a bit on that one myself, not sure how a cam can really be antilag, but i assume it just means in this context, a profile chosen to help eliminate lag.

wondered myself about the cams but as im not up on my "anti Lag set ups" ect i just quoted what i was told.

The car was pretty quick off the mark though even without anti lag and it had these cams fitted so i guess they are as stated just a low powerband cam. I will need to have a look and see if there are any markings on them

Thanks guys.
