Hi guys
Alot of you (well, most) don't know me but I have been away for 2 weeks in hospital.
Meningitis.
I just wanted to take the time to let you guys know what happened to me so as if anything similar happens to you, you csn get immediate help. It happened on Thursday 12th with a headache that I cannot describe, and to cut a long story short it gripped me so fast and so hard you cannot imagine. If ANY of you get a headache like that and then become photo sensitive (cannot deal with light) then HOSPITAL STRAIGHT AWAY. I never had any rashes at all so if you don't please don't think it can't be miningitis. I'm living proof it could be.
It could have quite well killed me, but it was caught early and ttreated with some of the strongest antibiotics there are. I had the bacterial variety and have responded very well to treatment they let me home last night but still have to go back 3 times a day for more antibiotics.
This is serious stuff guys.
I'm very very weak in real terms, my co-ordination is lousy and I am sleeping for England but on the mend. Typing this has been a real challenge as I keep punching the wrong keys. I've checked my spelling etc and it corrected what I can find but if there are others, I apologise.
Please guys - be careful.

One of my friends got viral meningitis at Uni, and spent 6 months in hospital, some of it on life support.
It is very serious indeed!
Glad to hear you got away with it relatively lightly, and best of luck with a speedy recovery.

Glad to hear your ok!
A friend of mines little boy who is 18 months had a rash the weds before xmas, she called the ambulance and they didnt know whether he would make it!
When he got there he was unconsious, and the vicar came to bless him etc.... he was so ill
He had meningitis septisiema (sp) he pulled through hes a tough cookie,
, Hes ok now hes just started walking again after a month, and hes more or less back to normal
He gets his fighting spirit from his mum Rach aka Misst16!
My next door neighbour in Uni contracted meningacoccal (sp?) septicaemia, that hit him amazingly quickly aswell......he did have the rash-marks, so as soon as we noticed, we had him rushed into hospital.
Everyone living nearby, and who had come into contact with him over the last two days, had to take extra-strong antibiotics as a precaution, although he had the worst of it......he had to have the full spinal-tap operation, and was in hospital for a good few weeks because of it.
Glad it was caught early enough, though, Mr S1......get well soon!

Glad you were diagnosed early
I had viral meningitis when I was 14 and was in hospital for 5 months. I was lucky as both my parents were Drs as I was told that if it hadn't been diagnosed so early it would have been curtains
Its so debilitating it took me 18 months to fully recover.

I hope you make a speedy recovery. I had a letter through yesterday from the son of the lady that does my year end accounts, saying she was found collapsed at home and has been in hospital since 5th January with it.
Obviously all my accounts aren't accessible because of her being hospitalised, therefore my Tax Form hasn't been sent off, but are the Inland Revenue sympathetic about this... are they fuck
they told me when I phoned up yesterday, that the tax form and payment must be in by the 31st Jan and if it's not, I can expect £100 fine. What do they expect me to do?

my boy got the same form of meningitis as you when he was five weeks old, took 13 weeks and 3 hospitals to find out what was up with him.
it was Great ormond street hospital in london that found out what was up and cos it took so long he got hydrocephilis(spelling) as a result of the meningitis and now has a shunt after a big brain op.
he is doing well now but will have to have the same op when he is about ten to have a longer shunt put in.
