Been talking to a few people about this surge issue, as i am now running (well nearly
) a GT35.
Just wondered how much they are to buy? External waste gated version

pete finish the car and IF theres problems then over come them. your engine has already run the numbers so talk to the man that built it. thats my advise.
I'm sure even though you brought it built from the previous owner the builder would still offer his advise to you aswell.

Just asked him and he said there wasn't alot surge issues as the exhaust housing was about the middle one and the head has large ports, he thinks it's to do with the mapping

The GT30's with internal w/gates are realy hybrids based on the GT28 using GT series family parts to create the one known as the "GT30".......at least that is my understanding from talking to Vince at Universal Turbos.
