Default Ford abandoning European look?

Hey! Anyone any thoughts on the fact that Ford's new range seems to me moving towards an American style? They always used to go for the VW/Audi look but there's a definite American feel about their new cars.

I read a brilliant article on this at www.pepconsultancy.com - check it out if you have time. It's a cool site actually, up-to-date industry news, especially for those of you interested in UK/European stuff (which I am, being English!)

I have always driven Fords, but the article at pepconsultancy.com was suggesting there is a move towards the classic 1960s American Ford look. Sounds like a good idea to me, because the European theme hasn't been going too well. I think they're going for the Mustang look now!

Other thoughts ... who knows much about Reg Vardy? Another good article at PEP website on this, but I don't know much abotu dealerships etc. Post a reply if you have thoughts on Lookers (or read the article from 18th January at pepconsultancy.com if you want to find out, and THEN reply to me!)

Cheers, keep in touch!

Dixie

No, I'm a 22 year old student, but as a car nut I spend half my days there! Please let me know if you have better ones ... I'm planning on setting up a car mag at uni so I need all the sources I can get!

By the way, anybody know what relation the current Ford CEO is to the original Henry Ford?

Firstly Ford is American. Secondly, if you go by the Focus, it looks v much like a GM/Vauxhall Astra which is American. Thirdly, Henry Ford was American

Unless they are going to fit external airbags on the front of cars to protect pedestrians there is no way the classic look can be used on future cars, Ford or anyone.
The bonnet front line is being forced lower and the front surfaces are being smoothed out by safety standards to protect pedestrians.
The classic look cannot be achieved.

I can see what you mean though, because I always get confused when I go outside and look at my Focus and Mustang........................................NOT .
