will a focus rs flywheel+clutch fit on my zetec turbo?
the time has come and the alcon clutch has chewed my flywheel pressure plate and its self to bits after 6k miles
the engine was only put in my car last august and cant be arsed spending 600 a year on clutches
im running about 250 bhp on a high compression zetec turbo
what got me thinking about fitting a focus rs setup was when i was round my local tuners a focus rs come for a power run and produced the same power that i run
i asked the chap that owned the car what clutch was in it and he said it's the original as far as he knew
so i thought it might be a good idea to see if i can use a focus rs setup and not worry about a paddle clutch eating flywheels etc every 6k miles
i would buy all the parts and try to fit them on but i dont think ford would take them back if they dont fit and i would probably get charged for re stocking goods
so any ideas if it would work?

I've just recently started stripping my car and I was going to sell the Alcon clutch on to someone else, but having looked at the 6 paddle plate I can see there is only about 1mm of material left above the rivets on the cover side! I'm not impressed considering my car was only pushing out approx. 240bhp and similar amount of torque - it worked well in the car but I only did about 2k/3k miles on it!
At just over £300 a pop I thought that wasn't really on, especially as it wasn't used for town driving and only did 6 'proper' launches at Bruntingthorpe!
I had an AP fast road clutch (organic) on it before - wish I'd never bothered changing it!
I'd go for another one of those or an AP 4 paddle.

its 40+ vat to get the alcon re furbished
and how would it grip with a std pressure plate from ford? so my pedal feels all nice
i think my flywheel will need skimming aswell
i had to put spacers on my clutch cable to get the bite right and have discoverd you need a different pedal and rachet from burtons

Yeah - there's a guide on how to change the mk3 Fiesta to the mk5 Escort/mk4-5 Fiesta arrangement, I'm pretty sure it's much the same thing for the mk4 Escort.
I had to get this done when fitting the AP organic clutch, it cost about £20-30 (it was quite a while ago so can't remember) to do and made a huge difference, the clutch pedal was absolute wank before that!
Have a search around on fiestaturbo.com - there is a guide on there including FINIS codes of all the parts you need and what you need to do it.
Cheers,
Andy
