Default Would importing an MR2 Turbo be cheaper than buying here?

Just looking at http://www.japaneseauctions.co.uk/index.php and wondering if it'd be cheaper to import than buy a car already here on a condition/spec like for like basis?

Some of the nicer cars seem quite costly here. They seem to go fairly cheap at auction in Japan.

I personally would'nt bother with the hassel, as they are not that expensive over here. Plus u cant tell what the car is lke when buying it. If it was a relativly new car then fair enough.

for a car thats so cheep here anyway i would just get one thats been in the uk a while thus taking the risk out of importing.

on more expensive cars when the cash saving out weighs the risk i would import.

On a 10k skyline its worth it, on a 2K hairdressers car it isnt

Agreed.

I didn't exactly pay a lot for mine, and all the legwork was done for me.

Just bought it, picked it up from the guy, and everyone was happy.

Incidentally, the guy I bought mine from imports them for a living, and it was such a nice easy transaction, that I didn't mind him earning his cut.

Well I've been through so many changes of heart over the last couple of months but I have come back around to the MRs as the best car I can realistically have from a reliability/performance/cost point of view.

Plus I get the mid engined RWD set up

I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun in April

By the way, If I took out my insurance on the 2oth April, does that mean it runs til the 19th this year or til the 20th March?

It's a really good way to go.

Be VERY careful with it in the wet though - mid engined and RWD is much more snappy than something like a Cossie or 200SX.

If you're around in March at that Blackpool piss up thing, you're more than welcome to take mine for a spin

I took out my current insurance in April 2005 mate, maybe you need to take lessons in common sense as well as maths before you post stuff like that in future

Pon, I'll be there mate and that's very generous. I think I'll have to take you up on that kind offer

Whoops I read it in a rush. I'll give myself a to save you the hassle

Just wasn't sure, as first time I've had insurance so wanted to check. I thought it would end 19th April in all honesty.

Can't remember if I get a month off in March or no though.

Went on MR2OC before when I first got the idea of one, if you remember. Seemed a good bunch. Will no doubt revisit them nearer the time.
