Tell them you were staying at someones place (obviously not someone who's had the 25% discount for sole occupancy) during that time ..unless that will play on your consciouness and you want to backpay them ....

Postal address's and living one's can be different ...

carl...

basically if you say you were at your sisters and she is erm saying she is there alone... and getting the 25% discount (if only one person lives in a property you get a quarter off) then you could end up getting her a fine.

is the house owned by you?
as pretty sure you have to pay something even if its vacant, reduced charges (though you should of told them, before)

If the property is empty for a short period, you are exempt. Forget worrying about living at your sisters if they pay full whack, only counts if you were living with someone on thier own and you wanted to hide the fact. It's based on property, not person

Unless this dates back to the days of Poll Tax? I can't remember when it changed though.

Google search suggests the Council Tax came in on 1 April 1993 - I wouldn't have said it was that long ago, but there you go - I must be getting old!

Certainly has far as Scotland is concerned, these debts don't have any expiry date.
