If it's got ABS best to leave the box in situ - if not then either way, makes no difference. Whetever's easiest for you.

I got one out from above but as said remove the pulley and alternator while you are there. It may also be a good idea to undo the lower tracking arm to give you a bit more play to get the spline out of the clutch.

I think it would also be easier to remove the whole front end including struts and driveshafts, by raising the car - then wheel the lot out on a palet. It depends what equipment you have I suppose.

Remove the radiator obviously, or it may get damaged.

I've done it from the top before leaving the gearbox in and never again....in my opinion it is MUCH easier to drop the engine and box from below

alternator is already off so thats 1 less thing, will the gearbox hav enough play in the 2 mounts then to get the engine out, will take the bottom pulley off aswell, the rad will b coming out,not really that keen on taking all suspension off car either really cause the car will b going to a mate to hav the engine bay painted, got 2 start looking for another engine aswell now cause the bores in the cylinders hav got marks in them and 1 of them has a bit of a naughty score in it but around the bore not up and down the bore
