Default who's got/had a high comp zetec turbo on here then ?

i just got rid of my 2.5mm decomp plate and my tuner says he can map around the high compression problem (it has accrilites from burtons and rods ballanced crank)

we did one site after fitting the new head gasket on the rollers and we had the site on the omex down to 2! at 12 psi with 50% (£10 worth)asda unleaded and wont alow a negative value on the omex 500 to retard further

i should be geting omex 600 through the post on tursday so we just zero'd all the sites above 7psi to play it safe and filled up with optimax

then i will be blessed with traction control launch control knock sensor anti lag and will be able to use negative figures when mapping the ignition

aparently you have to map the fucking knock sensor that dont sound healthy

we think its the same compression as a 20v turbo @9.5:1 now the plate has gone in the bin (it was experimental anyway)

at what point will i need water injection ?

whats your experiences with high comp ZT?

I ran over 9:1 CR on my Zetec with a T3 at 15-18psi generally, up to 22psi though... and tried a T34 at 15psi ish as well with no probs.

Good enough for 13.9 second 1/4 at 106.x mph. It was making around 260bhp at that point i guess, maybe a bit more or a bit less. I never bothered going for any more boost as the head was limiting things, but im sure if i'd had a proper head at that point that I could have gone plenty further even with the relatively high CR for general turbo use.

Im now happy to try my 7.x:1 CR and T34 at 2 bar and see how it goes

I''ve never used omex before but your ignition figures mean nothing. They are obviously not actual advance figures. There must be a crank wheel position correction in there.

Its a bit worrying that your tuner doesn't know the CR of your engine. He should have tthe meassurements of your pistons, head gasket, chamber size etc. and there fore should be able to work it out fairly accurate. Or if he knew the exact CR with the decomp plate its only som simple maths to find the new CR.

pistons was from burtons and if u look on there website it satates the pistons are for zetec/zvh turbo so i bought the pistons and skimmed off the maximum of 4mm whitch leaves the pistons 1.5mm below the deck

so im pissed off with burtons because there is fucking no way that thease pistons can be used for a ZT and i found out after skimming them so now im stuck with them

so basicly im now making the most of what ive have got and thats all i can do

what's my pistons worth used?

pistons are 86mm maybe bores are 86.5?
head is 49cc due to some machining to the chambers to lower c/r
stroke is 88mm
standard FRS multishim head gasket .5mm

thats all i know im afraid.

With those figures it works out to be about 9.4:1 (using 86mm as bore size)

with the 2.5mm de-comp plate it would have been around 7.8:1 i think....

Viper,
Based on the info you have given me and the fact you say the piston deck is 1.5mm down the bore i make your CR to be 9.43:1.

The going + 1mm on the bore hasn't really helped as running a bigger bore increases your CR.

Hope the CR figure is helpful.

What type of decomp plate were you running?

Why did you give up on it? Would love to see the advance map you were running with the plate and the new advance figures with out.

Just to add, incase you didn't know, with the old set up (decomp plate) you were running 7.8:1 CR.

Just worked it out and posted twice and you have already done the maths quicker than me! Doh!

At least we came out with the same figures

Engine was specced by Noble Motorsport and being built and mapped by Field Motorsport.

Brand new American Zetec Block (Rare Find apparently)
Baffled sump as it's for track use mainly
Accralite pistons (7.8:1 comp)
Farndon steel rods
Full bottom end lighten and balance with the clutch
The American zetec head has larger ports as standard but is being ported by Field Motorsport.
Noble motorsport custom spec cams
T34, .63 cossie housing, left hand threaded maram shaft, 6 degree cut back blades
Custom inlet manifold
Jenvey injectors (not sure on size but they're not small ) with custom fuel rail.
James Bentleys (SOYS) exhaust manifold and exhaust from his red s2
Coil Pack
P8 with Anti lag

Think that's it
Field Motorsport told me that it'll make 400bhp@ 25psi

verry nice

decomp plate was from the chap at zetecturbo.com or whatever it is and was 2.5mm thick

headgasket went between cyl 2/3 and i was worried about re using it so me and the tuner decided to map it without the plate with freshly skimmed head

i'm freinds with the tuner and i done his website so i get to use his workshop he tweaks the map for nowt

im not alowed ner the rollers tho lol

i have the maps on my laptop so i can post on here for everyone to use as im not a tight arse who likes to keep things secret

That would be cool. Can you post a screen dump of the ignition map page and the ignition settings page?
