Princess diana had one and there was one other one made. But I very much doubt that this is the other one.

So how can you be so sure? There were a small number of Genuine S1's out there not made in white (yes, Princess Di had one black one, but I have seen with my own eyes two other GENUINE black ones, 1 red and one grey) and the fact the graphics are missing don't mean a thing. My last S1 had all black decals, instead of the blue and black decals, but it was still genuine S1...

Princess Di's S1 had no graphics - was it a fake? No...

It could be genuine, but I doubt it - and I base that purely on price and condition. If it is a genuine original, then it would have been owned by a proper enthusiast, and sold on and bought by more enthusiasts and is unlikely to get in that condition. Secondly, a proper enthusiast would price it higher than that too, regardless of condition....

poor old stoned ,you don't understand, these are the cars that some fool will pay a fortune for when it's done if only to have a car like diana used to! it's well worth Ł2000 to the right person who can do all the work themselves and then get about Ł8000 for it done. now if your talking piles of shit i'd start with gti-r's

You can say whatever you like, I wont lose any sleep over it.

Fact remains that is a rusty shed of a shell not worth the asking price. And you'd be a muppet to buy it simply to have a black S1.

But then, you've probably bid on it already...

well, if it is a real one, it would be worth cash right?
so surely its worth gettin the bloke to give anyone interested
the Chassis No or something? find out from that perhaps somehow?
I dunno, does seem very strange such a rare car would
be left to get so bad.

The argument -

If you had only 1 of 2 Black Series 1's Would you allow it to reach this stage.

I fooking would not what A shite box.

Mine would be sitting in a warm garage. However the idea of a Series 1 in another colour than white has always apeallled to me like the red one in either FF or PF.

Depends if you are into your fords or not really, the blue one made for Cats Eyes was left to rot then crushed, the red one was resprayed a different shade of red a one point in its life (now returned to original by Scot) so if you dont know what you have then you just treat it like another car.

I tried to buy the red one and was prepared to pay the money without seeing it just because of its history as I knew you dont loose money on these cars but still lost out, I may also bid on this one but need to get its identity verified first as it could have been dealer resprayed before it was registered, only the plates / ford will be able to verify it if a genuine black S1 when it left the factory, but to be honest I think its around its money now as IMO it will need around Ł4k thrown at it to bring it back to where it should be.

No thats not right, cos I know of the guy that owns the Princess Di one, and as I said I have also seen 2 others that were genuine-left-the-factory black S1's.... So minimum there's 3....

Right, to settle the argument again, there were 5 black Series 1s built, Princess Di's was the only one sprayed black DIRECT, as in not sprayed white & then resprayed black afterwards.

There is a genuine black Series 1 in Torbay, not sure whether it's that one, I've known of the one in Paignton for 11 years & it used to have purple graphics down the sides.

There is also one that drives around Torquay too owned by a female which has clear rear lenses & TSW Hockenheims.
It's registered as an XR3i now & was told that the girl that bought it took the turbo lump out because she couldn't afford the insurance with the turbo lump, this one does have the purple graphics that the one I saw 11 years ago (& a few times after that).
The one that the female owns has had the front arch extension re-rivited THROUGH the side of the arch extension!

The one that used to be in Paignton did have nsr arch repairs done a few years ago as it was running around with grey primer on the rear quarter.

The one that I know of from Torbay was owned by an RS enthusiast who used to show it with the RSOC as I first saw it at a car show as a 14 year old boy in 1993
