Default Question about "Chamois"

i leave my dry out and then wet once i want to dry a car off ( yeah i know is sounds weird )

but should i leave in water until the next time i use it? or leave to dry?


whats the best way to use one???

I dry it out, as if left wet it tends to go mouldy!

Nooooooooo, I put mine back in the plastic box it came in damp and it is awesome, you need to keep them supple

keep them dry...If they get rough and yucky....run them under a warm tap with a bit of hair conditioner.....you may laugh....but

u should rinse it out when u use it then dry if u leave it damp /wet itll stink in a short time lol

I find the best way to use a Chamois is to put it in the bin and replace it with a Meguiars Microfibre Towel. Loads nicer and you can wash it!!

cool, been letting it dry, but at first if dont seem to soak up all the water, and it is anto glym one

If its the Autoglym synthetic one then it should just be stored in its tube damp and then rinsed out when you're ready to use it. They are designed to be stored damp.

If its a true chamois ie made of animal hide then it should be dried out once youve finished using it.

Never had any bother from mine and its 3 years old now. Am contemplating moving to waffle weave towel for drying though.

those aquablades are an arse to use though i find - fine on bonnet, windows, roof etc. but any panel with a kink and its crap!!

If you meant to point out I had not given any reasons for my opinion then I shall go into more detail.

It absorbs far less water that a real chamois and left smears and little yellow bits all over my car.

Used it about twice before lobbing it in the bin

Those aqua blades are very good, but still need a Chamois for the corners etc and things like door shuts and under spoliet etc.

Spiky if you got a AutoGlym one then yes you can store it damp. Just make sure you clean them before and after use. Oh and during of course

Spiky i am a fully trained Chamois manager Leave it wet at all times , not soaking but damp, if you buy a decent one it should come in a plastic tube, NEVER wash it in the machine as the soap will take FOREVER to come out, the easyiest way is to roll it out or put it in a vice (sad i know) thats if you put it in the washing machine,

use an aqua blade for the easy bits to get most off, then do the rest with a chamois. i tend to buy a new one from halfords every month for 3-4 quid, they dont have to be big, just to get thel bits the aqua blade missed

don't use a chamois use a normal towel,

a real chamois takes off the wax,

if you use a normal towel the shine will stay much longer.
