Default Underfloor Heating Question.......

So, who knows whats what with this then??

Its for a Bathroom. We have a Towel Radiator in there, but we are going to Tile the floor. We only want heating to take the chill off the tiles, not as a sole heat source.

It is a Timber Suspended floor and will probably be Slate Tiled.

Any help appreciated.

Electric underfloor heating Christian! Ideal for under tiles. Can be linked to a timed unit too so can be set at times when ya get in from work etc...heat the tiles for when ya get a bath etc

well worth doing i did ours myself, very simple. i reckon it's not worth having a tiled bathroom floor without under tile heating.

I've just fitted mine to my conservatory, very nice warm floor, also added the insulation tiles. easy to fit little electrics which is very easy. Also digital thermostat so can be set to just take the chill off the tiles

Some pics here

Might find not using the flexi-mat and using the fixed mat system an easier otion mate
Need to have 30mA protection too mate depends how ropey your sparky was lol.
160w per square meter tiles, 130w per square meter wood flooring.
might want to use the 10mm insulation boards, I always do but they ain't cheep circa Ł20 per square meter.
Hope it helps, speak soon, lol you might know a cheep source

We had this in the technology rooms at school!

Oh how comfy it was trying to catch a kip on the floor because it was always so warm!

OK then, here's another question. What happens when you are tiling a floor that is next to a room that also has a tiled floor and adding stuff like Heating mat and the associated products (insulation boards etc) makes it higher than the adjoining room? What do you do in the doorway?

You do have to have a slight step . We had the same problem. I evened out the step slightly from the hallway into the bathroom by fixing 6mm ply sheets on top of the floor boards in the hallway. This made the step into the bathroom less and left a slight step down into the bedrooms. But once the rooms were carpeted you cant tell.. It does make that difference going into the bathroom tho....
