they normally die when they get shit in them. and cos of their design it only takes a tiny bit of something to lock the pump up. so before you put another one on and have the same problem, check the pre pump filter ffs.
you can dismantle the pumps and take the obstruction out if you're careful and skilful - unlikely, you being welsh and all

20K+ Super Poster.
if the seals arent kept submerged in fuel then can go hard n crack, so using pumps that were good when removed often die when fitting to another car...
best to buy pumps new imho

wrong, sierra's have, or definitely should have a pre pump in-line filter as well as the large post pump filter.
if your mates hasn't then no wonder he keeps going through pumps. it is a small mesh that is part of the pre-pump fittings.
fit one or keep breaking expensive pumps, your choice.
laugh and ignore me if you want, not my problem.

ForiegnRS=Unless there is a prefilter either in the tank or in the pump itself .There is defiantly NO prefilter b4 pump On a 3dr sierra like the 1 were talking about or MINE.There is a pipe that goes straight from tank to pump and thats it.

whatever.
i've seen it with my own eyes. and i've seen how a tiny piece of metal less than 0.5mm square can block the pump. if you run without a prefilter you can expect it will happen sooner or later. even if there isn't one as standard, i would fit one.
that's my final word on it. do what you like.
