We are unable to advise on the content of Shell Optimax, however I can confirm that our 99 octane unleaded petrol has a minimum RON of 99 and a MON of 87. It exceeds the British Standard Specifications for BS7800 - superunleaded fuel, and BSEN228 premium unleaded. It contains a high level of a detergent additive which exceeds the level of performance specified by Major European Motor Manufacturers, to help keep engine fuel systems clean.

Here is an updated list of stores which this sell this fuel together with the dates of forthcoming stores, this list from Head office suggests our Portsmouth store should already have begun selling it:

I work for Tesco and it is probably because they do not make as much profit as the other one, if it picks up and sales are good they will probably roll out to all stores

What they don't tell you is that its delivered at 99 but won't guarantee it stays at that.

Optimax is guaranteed to be a minimum of 98 all the time and if you can get it on day of delivery its more likely 102

If you dont already hate them, give it time they will muscle in on your trade and devalue it till your on minimum wage. Escort only ever gets Optimax as that was what it was set up on. Fiesta runs on Tesco's 99 and we have no complaints.
