Default adjusting boost

i had my pal turn the boost down on my saff,i now want to wind it back up to what it was.the Q is how do i do this via the actator arm,my mate says screw the nut on the arm to shorten the arm in small turns and test and repeat until the correct boost level is achived,is this correct as i heard somewhere b4 that you have to take the actuator off to adjust it?? cheers all

think thats the "dodgy" way of doing it as the AMAL valve or ECU controls it all doesnt it? On my r5 turbo, i just did that. But if your mate has turned the boost down that way, all you have to do is shorten the rod and keep trying till it holds the boost it was at before. Think someone told me 1 full turn is about 1psi. (that was on the Renaults though)

you only have to take off the rod clip adjust it and pull it back over the wast gate arm .thers no need to take off the acutuator right off its all done on the car

dodgy fuelling? cos obviously the more boost you have, the more fuel you need, and you cant adjust that unless your a mapper. has it been set up to run the higher boost setting? if not, i would get it live mapped and let them sort it out rather than blow it up.

yes it was set up to run 29psi before but my pal turned it down when we did a track day(for reliability to 24)so fuelling is safe, but havent really seen him since as hes traveling asia so now i want it back up for the trip to donny, also if he just wound the boost off wouldnt it be running rich if was set up to run 29psi?

yeah it would a bit. But probably nothing major. If its been set up for 29psi, and all he done was back the arm off (as this adjusts when the wastegate opens), then it SHOULD be safe to shorten the rod again so it runs it original boost setting.

oh yeah, and try not to lose the circlip that holds the arm on. right pain in the ass as they can just ping off, and make sure you dont overboost it! lol. Have fun.
