Default Any Macromedia Dreamweaver "guru's" about?

Got a coursework to hand in at uni tomorrow, basic website in dreamweaver.

Anyway, when i open the source file (index.htm) in internet explorer, (not hosted, just viewing it from HD) all i get is a blank page?

Yet if i right click on the file on my HD, and "edit with Dreamweaver MX" it opens in dreamweaver as normal, all images/text/links etc.. are shown?

So, what im asking is... why wont it preview properly in internet explorer/netscape etc... ?

Its to be submitted tomorrow and im fucked if i cant get this sorted

Any help is MUCH MUCH MUCH appreciated! Cheers.

Yeah, it does preview, either by hitting "F12" in dreamweaver, or going to file>open>index.htm in internet explorer, but it only shows a white/blank page, Not the series of text/images etc i have on the page ive created in dreamweaver?

Weird one...

Coldo,

in IE, try View (menu), then source.

If you get nothing, you are probably loading the wrong file altogether.

Does IE report any errors in the status bar ?
You can also check in IE if it is set to ignore errors, Tools \ internet options \ advanced tab

Look for disable script debugging (internet explorer)
Disable script debugging (other)
Display a notification about every script error

The last one is the important one.

good luck- hth

It needs the default page set to Index.htm in Internet Information Services from memory I believe. Use to do Coldfusion programming and this had me stumped a few times. I assume you are running it as localhost.

If you can email me the file(s) I can diagnose for you - PM me for my email addy if you need it.

Saff, doubt it's that, as he's naming the file he wants to view, not attempting to browse a directory. (I'll wager IIS isn't being used also)

You might be right mate, didnt read the bit about mapping to the actual source file. My problems were when I was just mapping to the domain.

Good point
