Default Escort Cosworth front Cradle ?? Mike, Martin Any one

Ok what can be done if anything to the front engine cradle on a Escort Cosworth ?? I have heard of talk of them cracking but not seen it myself. But I have also read that you can weld and reinforce it some way.

Any one got any info or photos or shall I not bother?

I've never had any problems with mine, but I have heard of what you say happening. Martin / Brom are both in your area and could modify as necessary if you wanted it done while it is apart .

PJ, if you mean the front cross-member then I have seen a couple with huge chunks missing - usually caused by a drive shaft popping out and bashing f**k out of the surrounding alloy, also seen one with fatigue type cracks on the upright parts above the drive shaft recess......

Some peeps or garages will actually jack up a Saphs/Es Cos using the crossmember - I'm sure that they should not be doing this

I wouldn't bother...I have seen some modified webs welding in etc but we have run them standard with little bother the main mod was to allow easier exchange of the TCA's, steel top hats pressed into the machined crossmember as per the pic....

Regards

Ian
