Default INSURANCE GROUPS REDUCED

Greenlight - Passion Ford Insurance scheme update

The Passion Ford scheme has performed well in a number of area's over the last year, which has led to our being able to reduce the following area's:

Driver re-classifications

Drivers 21-24 - Age loadings reduced

Vehicle re-classifications

RS Turbo - car grouping/rating reduced by 1
Sierra Saphire Cosworth - car grouping/rating reduced by 2
Escort Cosworth - car grouping/rating reduced by 1

We do recognise that we're not able to assist everyone on here, but a number of members have taken advantage of the scheme discount offered by us to members.

If you are currently covered with Greenlight our records have been automatically updated and you will receive the benefit of any amendment from the next renewal of your policy.

In the meantime, keep up the good work & safe driving.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Ryan,

The 3dr isnt as profitable to our underwriters, the rates will not increase but there is less room for negotiation on these.

RS500's are excluded from our scheme, great cars but due to poor claims experience and for health reasons (ie. the good of the scheme) we have had to exclude.

Kind regards

Tony

that unfortunately is the downside to being insured on somebody elses policy, when you have 1 yrs NCB i'm sure greenlight will cover you

Tony, when you say performed well . are you really saying ;

Hi Adam,

Some of our underwriters offer valuations under classic or custom policies and our modified policies do take into account the impact of the enhancements to the vehicle value - they also offer like for like replacement of modified parts in a repairable situation.

The best bet would be to ask when you obtain a quote or prior to proceeding with a policy.

Kind regards

Unlike some brokers we do not view classic car schemes as a cheap way to cover high performance vehicles and are not advocates of destroying our underwriters by putting vehicles on "Classic" policies.

The added problem with an Insurer underpricing a risk is that it will inevitably result in the scheme being unprofitable and withdrawn in the long term.

Classic policies are not usually bonus rated and do not accrue or continue with a no claims discount. Which if youve managed to squeeze onto a classic policy and have been there for over 2 years means your prior NCB will have expired.

We look for consistency and being able to offer steady rates on a longer term basis, which may not suit some of you that are looking for quick fix "classic" policies for high risk or heavily modded vehicles - but we can guarantee with this approach the rates we offer will be here for the long term.

This is probably not going to be what those of you looking for "classic" cover for high risk or modded vehicles are going to want to hear, but we feel its a realistic approach to maintain scheme longevity.

Kind regards

Tony

Ps. We will however do our best to ensure your pants remain where they are

do you offer classic policies to under 25's?

im not looking for a quick fix as it will be a genuine 2nd car with limited mileage. do you think it a good idea for someone like me to go for a classic policy? or start a new policy building up NCB? thanks for any help on the subject.

like the way hes uses the "quick fix" thing for the classic cars

the fact of life is anyone who spends over 3k a year maintaining a car will look after it better than a snotty car they buy for 800 quid

so thats why they should be classed as classic cars to people who use them for limited milage, restore what ever issue there is ect

im thinking of changing to a classic policy on my cossie as ive done 300 miles in it this year, so dont that make it a car i want to look after and not a quick fix

and what are you now classing the cossie as based on the insurance group as im sure its still gonna be more than what im paying with another company who think its group 20, if thats the case do i get cheeper quote based on that automatically

as who cares if you call a cossie group 2 if its still costing 3k a year to insure

fair point phil

more important would do you pay out quicker and reduce all the shitty forms for it too

i ask as my neighbour reversed his car into me and the form i was asked seemed a chore so i decided to leave the dent where it is, i hate paperwork

i hardly drive my fiesta cos its broke most the time... does it count as a classic car lol WTF.

if you hardly drive it.. then limited mileage policy to reduce the risk.
if its a concourse show car then im sure a 'classic' policy is no use either...

the classic policy does seem like a load of bollox by insurance companies anyway.

or maybe cause you are getting 'classic' insurance you think that it would be cheaper?

i used to try ringing all the insurance companies advertising for young drivers etc etc and they all used to seem reasonable price till you get a good price from a mainstream one... then everyone seems to match it.

and bit contradictory there ginge aswell... want a classic policy cos it hardly does any miles blah blah low risk... yet you were going to claim because your neighbour reversed into your car? I wonder how many chrome bumpered MGB or mk1 mex drivers that are kept in air conditioned garages and only taken out for sunday afternoon drives in the country would thank you for raising their premiums.

Hi Bal,

Most of our underwriters take information over the phone these days to save you filling in the S%*%$Y forms when making a claim.

They then print out what you advised them and send to you to check and complete a picture of the accident scene for complicated accidents or if you feel a diagram would be helpful to them.

Sorry to hear what happened when your neighbour reversed into your car buddy... what a nightmare. Bet your neighbour is everytime he sees the dent.

Have you tried just getting an estimate/pro-forma invoice and claiming directly from his Insurer to save you the paperwork??

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Matt,

Bearing in mind the situation (and the type of vehicles in question - ie. 3dr) if you're looking for us to quote we would suggest the 2nd vehicle/limited mileage route - starting a 2nd policy & building up bonus.

If your record is good we can mirror the NCB percentage discount onto the 2nd vehicle and you would receive a concession for limiting your mileage.

We'll check the rates on both cars with & without bonus to ensure that we get the best deal by most effective use of your no claims discount.

Kind regards

Tony
