Just wondered if anyone had ever tried to find a car they'd sold, the thing is i sold a mk3 3i about 5 years ago, but it had sentimentle value and now i wouldnt mind buying it back if its still around? any ideas on how to find a car??

I knew exactly where my old 205GTI was after i sold it, as the Police rang me a week later and said it had been reported dumped about half mile away

My old Janspeed V6 Turbo 3dr Rep was sold to someone in Swindon.

My old 3dr Cossie (well the shell at least) still belongs to people known by people on this board i think? Anyone know of its progress?

My other 1.6 3dr Sierra i still see all the time (well, wheelspinning slighlty sideways out the petrol station last night ) as Dan owns it and he sits across the office from me!

You cant ring DVLA as such because of Data Protection, but you can write to them asking for the full history on the vehicle, there is a charge for that.

I think there are details of what to do, buried on their website as alot of Classic Car people do it to trace previous owners of vehicles etc to build up a full picture of a cars life.

Alternatively you can go to the post office, get hold of a VQ4 form, fill it in, send it off with the fee and you should get the registered keeper details, if its still on the road. Its the same mechanism that Councils use to get a vehicles keeper details to issue parking fines.
