Default MotorX

Gonna be buying a motorx bike soon and wanted to get people opinions.

Looking at a 250 for cheap fun. Maybe Kawasaki KX 250 late 1990's.

All advice welcome

Lots of other things to think of when you are going to get a moto-x bike.

where you going to ride it?

have you got good safety equipment

can you transport the bike?

will someone else come with you , also be able to drive home incase you break bones ! (it does happen)

My brothers been riding competitivly for years now and knows most people round your area(he lives in Mayland) who ride and also loads of places to go etc.

You can get loads of bikes from anything from Ł100 onwards depending on condition etc. Bare in mind parts are extremely expensive if bought from the wrong place A kawasaki KX125 is a good bike if you've never ridden, also the Honda CR is good, if you have a bit more money to spend go for a late (as late as you can afford) Yamaha YZ125 , it will scare the shit out of you if you take it to a decent track
Buy Trials and Moto-X news from the newsagents on Fridays, lots of contact etc in there
Any other questions feel free to ask.

cheers everyone. my friend has been riding for years and he said i should get a bike to go riding with him, his family own a fair bit of land and so does my dad also. i was planning on spending about 1k on a bike and then all the safety gear on top of that. he has got a ktm 450 4 stroke but hes been riding for years, so i was thinking 125 or 250 tops.

nthorpey, where does your bro ride his?

thanks

tim

personally i would go for a cr or yz first (honda or yamaha) if your getting a late 90's bike i'd be looking for receipts for a rebuild as if its not had one its likely to go pop very soon. if your not confident with your knowledge of bikes definately take someone with you.

He rides all over the country from brighton to cumbria! Mostly around east anglia, there are tracks on the A11/14 called Wildtracks at Chippenham and also a good one at Mildenhall. There are lots around that my bro races at and most have a 'practice' day one day a week and most saturdays/sundays if no racing.

Once you've ridden a proper track you'll never see the fun in burning round an empty flat field again
