Default XR2 Turbo's

As I normally do something to a car and then get told by someone that it was far easier and cheaper to do it another way.

I want to put a turbo engine in the XR2.

Do I 1.6 CVH turbo it and the missus's cabriolet
1.9 CVH turbo it
2.0 zetec turbo
2.1 ZVH turbo

Whats the best way about doing it?????

I'd personally drop the FRST engine straight in with a couple of mods. 170bhp in that car is ample for silly fun.

Zetec turbo to be done right is expensive. MadMac priced it all up for his cabby and it was far from cheap.

Could just drop a 2.0 Zetec in the hole and add some bike carbs?

In that case for value for money just drop the FRST motor in and play a bit. The XR2 weighs about as much as an empty fag packet so you don't need silly power to propel it to warp speed

well you need a loom, fuel pump engine and turbo, need to fabricate a down pipe, i/c that fits properly, thei fuel pipes ideally need swopping but you could swop the feed and return to make it work, unless you have a swilpot on the tank you need to keep half a tank of fuel in there, then the clocks become a issue,

oh and you have to find a mint fiesta to do it with too

my mates got one that he bought of dalxr and its a right laugh to drive

may be better buying a full car, take the bits you need and sell the rest.

that way you will have everything and not be looking for other bits you need.

as dave said, also that way you can fit the mk3 dash in it as the mk2 looks worse than the cossie dash

Or go on Fiesta Turbo.com as there can be some cheap cars on there. Was a lass on there with a nice white one she'd had enough of only wanted £1000. Then you can sell what you don't use to recoup some of the costs.

Don't post there any more but it's worth a look from time to time

Do it! As stated a decent FRST EFi engine running basic moda will be more than enough fun. Not quite as easy as whacking it in though as ginge said but worth it to wipe the grins off brand new Audi TT owner's faces!
