Default XR4i Turbo Technics conversion - Has anyone got one?

My brother has just bought an A reg XR4i with a single turbo TT conversion.

Just trying to find a bit more out about the conversion so i can can give it a decent once over and set up when he gets it back.

I take it the motor is left un-touched internally, running stock CR (does any one know what this is)?

Is there any form of ignition retard whilst on boost and if so how is this achieved?

How is the on boost fuel enrichment taken care of?

How much boost should the stock conversion be running?

Does any one have any performance figures for this conversion?

Thanks,

Doug.

You're best trying www.xrstyle.co.uk and www.interford.co.uk

If it's an F18 conversion then yes, stock internals at around 9.2:1

There should be a module on the side of the dizzy which has a manifold pressure feed, this retards the ignition dependant on boost

There is a small weight on the metering head to make it heavier - I aren't kidding.

6psi on the baby conversion, slight increase on the more powerful conversions

Rough figures for the F18 conversion are around
200bhp
0-60: 6.5secs
1/4: 15secs

Crikey..... it is old school! It think first thing I ought to do is get my wideband rigged up on it and check the AFRs on boost.

Guess i could tune it with some stick on wheel balancing weights!!!!

I don't suppose you know the ignition advance figures for idle and on boost?

I don't know those figures but I am sure they are on Interford or the XROC forums.

It's -very- primitave, the 2.8 is still on the old Bosch K-Jetronic system.

The explains the mystery of what the 'profile block' actually is then.

Seems nobody can supply any information on them, anyone asking is just being recomended to get a different WUR from KMI.

No... that's why it is fitted.

You can get modified warm up regulators which are supposed to up the fuel pressure dependant on boost from Alan Jeffries, but I've only heard about these, not actually tried one.
