I Killed it Good and Proper.
As I was driving from Gillingham to wrexham on wednesday I got to the m25/a2 junction and my engine went bang. On first inspection it looked like a small hole in the front of the block but this was the actual result when i go the block out on friday.....
thats the whole it punched in the back of the block
thats the 2 holes in the sump
theres one seriously bent and snapped con rod
Me and my mate have a pretty good idea what happened. there was a con rod bolt in the sump in perfect nick so what we think has happened is that bolt has rattled out and the other snapped. the bearing cap wen under number 2 bore and the bearing cap on number 2 pushed the other cap through the back of the block. I am quite impressed witht the damage lol.
Anyway shes now running again but very rough. it sounds like the timing is out but its all timed correctly. She doesn't want to boost at all and is misfiring badly too. Anyone got any ideas?[/img]

Those pictures are so out of focus they actually hurt to look at
Wounder about the engine though mate, can make out the conrod and its certainly well and truely had it!
What engine was it, i cant make out a thing in those pictures.
Bolt coming loose on the rods is everyone's worst nightmare, the carnage is always total, is the head fucked as well?

apologies for the crappy photos my girlfriends brothers camera is bust but they give you the general idea.
Its an RS Turbo Lump.
Thankfully my mate gave me a new bottom end for nought and the head seems ok valves all seem pretty straight although if we cant sort the problem any other way one of things it could be is a bent valve although we checked them all before we put the head back on. I have a reconditioned head that was meant to go on but some pleb at a motorfactor gave my mate the wrong stem seals so we had to put the old head back on for now as i needed the car done asap.
Cost me about 200 i spose with all the new gaskets etc.
