Default Fao Chip-o-lata, Nitrous?

What dya reckon to this site mate?

http://www.diy-nitrous.fsnet.co.uk/m...ion-system.htm

He seems to know what he's talking about, can I really build a nitrous kit for £100
You'll like him, he's put a decent engine in a shonky 1.6L too

I'd have to get a proper PI marked bottle to be able to get it filled over here wouldn't I?

Know anywhere else I can get all the other stuff cheap?

Or is it not worth the hassle and I should just shell out for a kit?

What's your opinion on these kits (& price)?

Burgerman is a legend, very knowledgeable bloke.

The kits you make if you follow his instructions will work, but the solenoids are of a lower quality than the sort that i use, they just arent designed for how they are used, and you cant get them to open and shut at the correct rate, but they will work for small increases.

his kits are actually superior to the commerical stuff from the american companies in some ways which is ironic
Basically its an attempt at a copy of a kit based around the same fundamental principles of a wizards of nos kit, metered at the solenoid etc.

Those other kits, i wouldnt go anywhere near, you are paying 2/3 of the cost of actually getting a proper wizards of nos kit and you end up with a solenoid like this:

If you think for a moment that is a purpose designed solenoid with an opeation time matched to their fuel solenoid i suspect you are going to be pretty dissapointed!

Id hazard a guess it uses a lovely PTFE seal in it too that gets gunked up and jams open, like most of the american crap punted onto the market over the years has done.

The only reliable solenoids im aware of on the market that function exactly as they should in terms of speeds, and that carry on working no matter how long you pulse them for are these:

I personally would only ever do nitrous one of two ways:
DIY burgerman style kit on some old banger i didnt care about
Wizards of nos kit on anything that i wanted to keep in one piece

Ps

the secondhand CO2 fire extinguisher bottles that burgerman recomends are MORE suitable for storing nitrous in than the american nitrous bottles on the market which are technically illegal in the UK, so you shouldnt have any problem at all getting them filled, they are actually the same basic spec as the bottles in a wizards of nos kit as CO2 and N20 storage requirements are almost identical so the same spec of container is used for both.

Hmmmm, I want to keep the bike in one piece

Only want a 40bhp increase though.

Plan is to start saving for a Wizards of Nos kit then?

Gonna need something to keep me busy this winter.

The kits easy enough to set up diy or will I need dyno time?

Hmm, can you get 5lb CO2 bottles though? A 10/11lb might be a touch big strapped to the back seat

Yes i would go for a wizards kit.

They are suitable for DIY instalation and instructions on how to set up are given, quiet basic stuff at that level really.

Try it initially on 25bhp jets, then you can increase from there if its working properly, rather than risk anything on more power.

bottles are available write down to 0.5 lbs, even a 5l would be impossible to stealthily fit on a bike i suspect. unless you want it visible?

Personally, i would go for 2 * 11lb bottles in a "rocketman" style backpack

PS

bike nitrous kits arent really my thing, there are FAR better people you can ask about them than me as there are some specifics in terms of different requirements to car kits (not least of which most are a dry style setup)

Talk to other bikers in the bikes section at

http://www.noswizard.com/bboard

Trev himself (owner of wizards of nos) has a MASSIVE amount of experience with bikes, and his customers hold just about every bike record in europe.

Visable is cool, want people to know it's there

£500 notes for the WoN kit
Might be easier to get my extra 40bhp by selling the storm and getting another R1

Decisions, decision

See ya sunday m8

I can get you 20% discount if you decide to buy anything WON brand new mate.

Still not a cheap product, but it helps narrow the gap a bit at least!

See you sunday
