Hi all, been looking at some old photos tonight, god I miss it, I've been out 5 years now and it's cool to reminisce, I did 6 years,
Basic Training at Pirbright, then Larkhill
2 years at 29 Commando in Plymouth
2 years at AMF(L)Larkhill again
1 year at Colchester 19 Regt Royal Artilery(not MCTC!)
Bosnia, Norway, Spain, France, Cyprus, Iraq, Turkey, The most awesome time of my life! It prepared me for life, I've got everyjob I've ever applied for since 'cause of the attitude it gave me.

Anyone remember things like

1. Knoccking on ya mates room door to see if he's coming to "Scran" tonight or gonna get a beer at the NAAFI later

2. Dirty women walking around the block in the early hours trying to find which room they came out of when they went for a piss!

3. Laying in the woods on stag with ya oppo trying hard to stay awake, thinking that you must be the coldest person ever, in the history of cold!

4. All the lads getting back into camp on a late sunday evening after a weekends leave, then trying to find an ironing board for parade tomorrow.

5. Saying bye to the other half when ya go on tour, and then getting off the plane when ya land and she's waiting for ya!

6. Pulling ya lightwieghts down with ya trouser twists everytime you get out of a truck.

7. Shagging the local dirty girls, knowing ya mate had a go last week!

8. Going out on the piss at midnight cos your wages go in at 0000 hours.

I started out at pirbright too in 94, RLC, then onto blackdown late 94, have to say germany for me was the best though as a young squaddie the things you get up to looking back its hard to see how i survived. medical discharge 4 years ago finished it for me, dont miss the army but the guys you served with were like family and civy life just aint the same.

I did my 18 years in the RAF as an Aircraft Phantom/Tornado/VC10 and Red Arrows Tecky ... Loved it loads.
Got me 22yr pension now .. free money .. I Can recommend it, so DO the time boys!

RAF life.....

1) turn up to work 2 hrs late, still half cut, get sent on "admin" till lunchtime to recover

2) getting up for "wheels" when on a downroute trip, still hammered, and go to breakfast in the 4/5 star hotel in your flying suit, swanning about looking cool, and realize the pilots are MORE pissed than you are

3) Having to make a "precutionary landing" at hannover, germany, to check a "snag" on the aircraft, and fill it up with 200+ crates of warsteiner

4) always, always someone up for going out on the town

5) getting adventure sports paid for in full, and being paid petrol money to go to them ( just done a weeks gliding for fook all )

6) Dry-ice/ liquid oxygen bombs in the T-bar at 4am

7) asking jumped up sqauddies/meat bombs(paras), "sorry, how much do you get paid?? "

8) having access to loads of useful people to help fix your motor ( painters, tyre fitters, storemen for nuts and bolts etc)

9), never actually being at work i work 4 on 4 off, and had 9 weeks holiday this year and 4 weeks of outbound sports

10) pissing all my mates off in normal jobs by going to italy, cyprus, germany, canada, ascension island, etc etc
