FAO Rudey or anyone who's ever had surgery...
Does it get worse before it gets better?
Had surgery on my shoulder last Tuesday, was painful for a few days and then the pain went steadily down, which was nice.
But for the last couple of days, since I have regained a lot of movement in my arm, it hurts like hell and gets worst everyday!
Ok, I am not supposed to do too much with it until the surgeon says I can (like I can't lift my arm above my shoulder or carry any weight) and I don't think I am doing much anyway... but will put the sling back for a few hours everyday just in case.

THB the first 3 weeks are the worst, a case of ballance between manageing pain whilst excercising & carrying out day to day activities(as best as possible).
The pain from the operation will start to reduce significantly and range of movement return with the most noticable differences from weeks 3-6.
Try to steer clear of completely resting your shoulder, movement is good and although you'll experience stiffness it will ease.
Hopefully you'll be back on the mend soon

Thanks Andy!!
I do move my arm everyday but I am now in pain even when not moving.... If it gets worst, I guess I'll give them a call and ask for more painkillers... some that work for a change...

Nat in my experience post Operation your given a few days supply of pain killers then its down to you and your GP to ensure that pain is managed.
Is the gradual increase in pain related to the decrease of Painkillers/Anti-inflammatorys?
The best advise I recieved was from an an Anaesthetist if your in pain you need pain relief, if you in discomfort pain relief is not necisarly needed, dont suffer unnecesarly, when there is relief readily available. Use it and if you need more ask.

Well, the ones they gave me didn't help just after the op. When I got home, took them a couple of times but they didn't seem to lessen the pain at all. Was gutted they didn't give me any morphine!! I love morphine!!!
The anti-inflamatory made me real sick so didn't take them anymore. Not worth the aggro IMO!!!
The pain now is just constant. Will call them tomorrow and ask them. If they say its normal and it'll go away, I'll bear with it. Don't really like taking much.... If not, I'll ask for the magic little pills!!
