I was underwhelmed with the performance of that van, its just not very quick at all.

Bored to tears watching it slowly meander round the track.

Doesn't want crushing in my opinion, just needs A MUCH MUCH MUCH more powerful engine! its all noise and no go!

Why can't it go out with all the other cars as well, I can understand the f1 cars but this wasn't fast was it

The Transit USED to have an F1 engine in it!!!! WTF they took it out I don't know. If they insist on using it on track, it should be out with the rest of the groups with a fast engine back in it.

With the F1 engine it would have been worthy of a track session on its own, with 300bhp it was slower than a stage 1 saph, utter waste of time now its just got a road engine in it.

I went both days, still in East Midlands Airport waiting for my 2 flights home! I agree Sat seemed the better track day...apart form the Escos rolling it The sunday was alot warmer and obviously busier, the RS500's were cool altho alot of them were missing badly! which alot of ppl were talking about on the grandstand, The Datapost S1 which is owned by Rswoza (Danny) blew a conrod which wasn't nice,it didn't even make a lap

Gonna try and make Ford Fair next year, met a few ppl this year Spikey has some interesting poses on a Bucking Sheep (i'll let him explain)

The good thing is i've found a low miler Escos Imp Blue

Sooner organise a decent track day personally and not a show.

Why did you even bother to book knowing this, to just act a fool and moan about the whole day.

OK before everyone starts with the day is for everyone !!!

If everyone paid 150 quid to get in then u might see it different.

First session was 3 laps in C group....

25 laps for 150 quid - red sessions every 5 mins.....

eagle - don't remember overtaking you on yellow's sorry mate, or the corners, remember the exit of coppice but aint that a straight...

Gareth lloyd wasted me....yes - car was missfiring and boosting @ 1bar....came in straight after to find some wires broke to TPS - so nothing i could have done about that LOL - if anything at all

I was just fed up with the day yesterday, from working 14 hours a day from wednesday to get the car on track to having the worse track day ever just wound me up. - I was tired and annoyed - maybe this post wasn't the best thing to do..

I apologise to everyone i have upset

Offer for a visit to Goodwood still stands.

You'll love it, and more track time than you/car can handle.

Of course it's a full blown trackday! Same rules apply as any other trackday. I wonder if you'd be quiet after spending £150 for 59 track miles and also the cost of getting your car properly prepared beforehand.
So please don't start calling people fools. The ones that dipped out because of all the stopped sessions because of bad driving and breakages have every right to moan.

REDKOP : Totally Agree.

Goodwood is a fantastic track. 2.4 miles of everything, two long straights, one chicane, one double apex corner, st mary's (Long Seeeping Bends) with both on and off camber. Fully resurfaced track (Done for Goodwood Revival Meetings), Fantastic scenery, adequate pits, southern weather (Can go either way though), and most of the guys/girls that do track days there are pretty sensible.

Bottom Line : Fantastic Track for a lot less money than any of the usual national tracks.

How annoying was it in the morning! The recovery team were as bad as the drivers though!

Second session (I think) the yellow XR2 had a suspension failure and went into the gravel at McLeans, then they took 25 minutes to recover the car from the gravel

Then 3 laps after re-opening Adam (BlackRS on here) did a full lap with oil/smoke pouring out of his car and they took 45 minutes to clean the track (which was fair enough as they had to do every single corner )

In the afternoon when then white Escos went into the gravel on the first corner He locked up about 6 feet after exiting the pit lane and about 20 foot before the corner and just ploughed straight on. Maybe invest in some tyre warmers if you are going to drive like that straight out of the pits

As for people cutting the corners, it has happened every year and people are very quick to blame the AM Sport Fiesta as he isn't well known around here, but the truth is Gareth Lloyd was running his OUTER wheels on the kirb at the apex, so his entire car was on the grass/sand Scotty, the red Evo, the red Rally Escos, AM Sport Fiesta and a good few other cars were all at it as well. Just like every other year..

Exactly.

Okay some people aren't the greatest of drivers, and some cars do just let go, no matter what you do. But they should be a bit nippy getting them back off.

The thing is, you are always likely to get a lot of novices on track at National Day because of the nature of the event.

I think some do pile themselves into group B because of some sense of embarassment about being labelled a novice, so that causes problems in itself.

Track ettiquette needs to be more rigorously enforced - I spent four laps stuck behind a saff who just would not move over, even though I was catching him at silly speed under braking and through the corners. I was catching him through Coppice, and was carrying a far superior exit speed, but because he had more power, he just pulled away down the straights, and we started all over again.

PON,
Name and shame - post his reg up on here .

I could see after two corners that I was doing the exact same thing to the stupidly quick MkII with 220bhp Pinto lump in it on Avon CR500s, so instead I SLOWED down on the straight, indicated right and let him overtake. I then spent the rest of the session watching his COMPLETELY sideways antics round EVERY corner from the best seat in the house . I did this for EVERY car I was holding up through the corners, as in my mind, it is the corners that make a track day and not the straights. Shame this wasn't reciprocated from other people on track for me (Mr Windsor ).

wasnt really aimed at you steve ... sorry ... just a little rant at the overall driving of the majority of the higher powered cars....
only reason i went into 'C' was i felt i had the experience to be there and not have to drop some poor person in there as there were no 'B' slots but obviously it seems you need to have some huge power advantage. loads of money and in some cases no brain

sorry i held you up for a lap thought you could of out accelerated me tho

Few points about the day

Crush the transit an the old F1 cars there to loud when you have to get up that early . Put new spark plugs in the RS500 mobil1 touring car so it doesnt misfire cos you havent used it since 1987 bar that the touring car display was cool Reyland 3 door looking really quick the Am Fiesta seemed to be getting battled from all angles Lee had a play with it so did the A1 WRC escort not to mention Lloyd (which i think they got told off for ) Lots of offs but a few glimces of excellent balls out track action which is why i come back every year

I had half a session behind him....... fast in a straight line and then all over him at the next corner, once I finally got past him I pulled away and he was disappearing in the rear view mirror and then another that I came out of the pits behind another moonstone Saff then spent the whole session being held up everywhere only to be dusted in the straights.... why not just move over and let people past????? perhaps they don't want the of being over taken by a Fiesta???

Anyway on a lighter note I had a superb day did 112 miles on track and had absolutly no problems at all

youre missing the point here i'm sure?
surely everyone who went on the track paid £150?

or is the complaint that there were a few formula one cars and demo laps?

and would however many cars there was paying £150 each pay for a full noise day at donnington usually?
the people on the track totally pay for the hire of the place and open pits etc do they?

Quick Reply: Doubt i will be doing national day track time again....
