I did 130 miles on Saturday and only 87 miles on Sunday,i was in the intermediate group on both days.I agree with the points about the very slow recovery of cars off the track, and also its the people who spin off in the 1st place who mess it up for all the other drivers.
Lastly, what is it with Cossie drivers who wont let RST's past them when its 100% clear that the bean tin has caught up with up cause its quicker????Does it hurt their feelings that a shonky 1600 CVH is lapping quicker than their mightly cossie???I know that 80% of cossie's on track held me up before i finally got passed them,a big to all the other drivers who had the decency and track etiquette to move over.
And Im going to name and shame 1 particular bast*rd who held me up on both Sat and Sun,the PURPLE FOCUS
Sorry for my rant,regards Micky

Found everyone to be spot-on on Saturday, very relaxed atmosphere with only a couple of incidents, and the Mk.2's in my group were fantastic! Never passed a single one!

Shrek - I am guessing that you never paid for any track time before Ł150 is a lot of money to me and not getting your money's worth is not good....
I won't be moaning next year cause i will be in concours polishing

Group C isnt expert its EXPERIENCED drivers
I have done track at National Day a few times now, and this year things were exceptionaly bad, it looked to me that the marshalls were taking tehre time clearing incedents as they were getting pissed off with the crap driving, especially as in the drivers briefing nearly everyone in the room had track experience, so not many complete Novices, and those that were novice/ new to Donno track went in group A.
I really enjoyed the day, left happy knowing that the last six months of preperation on the car didnt go to waste, was faultless all day. However i do feel cheated out of ŁŁŁ's in total i think i managed about 1hr 30 mins on track at best, which aint good considering you are supposed to have 2hrs 40 min. I only ever got to 1 chequered flag session end, all others during the day was stopped early due to incedents.
There used to be Scrutinnering at National Day, the last few years this seems to have stopped, maybe a few of the car failures could have been prevented if this still took place.
Also why dont the marshalls adopt a similar style as Bedford, if you come off in your first few sessions, YOU are then punished and not every other paying participant

Another point raised - I got black flagged!
In all my time doing track days, I've never been black flagged once, and apparently, it was for cutting the corner into the chicane! Anyone else get done?

If they have the same rule, why do they not enforce it? IMO regardless of what club event is running and using the track, its Donningtons, marshalls/staff, that are more or less running the day. So for there and our safety why not allow them to govern the track time
Maybe the way forward with Track on the Sunday of National Day would be to have a Donnington run track day, there rules etc.. and the saturday be an RSOC organised event.

He then got even more annoyed as he thought I was taking the piss and I honestly was just trying to be polite!
He said that I overtook the safety car on the right. I apologised and he sent me off.
When I got back in the pits I thought about it and remembered overtaking the car and the reason I did was because the safety car was coming down craner through to old hairpin and he stayed left and INDICATED over to the left!!!! so I went past?? I thought as he was a course car and he was indicating it was the right thing to do and didn't think I did anything wrong

Yeah, I got bollocked for a couple of mishaps at the last chicane. 1st one, I got all locked up under braking and had to cut the last corner (I backed off and cut it but fair comment), once I put the outside wheel just onto the grass coming out of the chicane onto the start/finish straight (trying a bit hard) and once I got about half of the car onto the grass atthe same corner (track was covered in crap from the Fiesta / Escos Battle - we watched them drag half of the corner onto the track in front of us)
Got called in and was told that every lap I was off the track there - bollox, I've got the video showing it was the twice mentioned - and was then accused of dragging all the crap on the track till I pointed out it was the Fieast/Escos, to which I was told that they had been removed already
That was my last session, it was also the only full session I got all day, 6 flying laps all morning, 2 sessions were red flagged before I even got round Redgate after coming out of the pits, a little better in the afternoon but not much - VERY FRUSTRATING INDEED
But JESUS, some of the cars in Group C, and B for that matter, were seriously quick and I'm not going to dwell on the getting held up round the bends by the straight line merchants
All in all, not a good track day but I've never driven Donington before so that part was awesome - Craner curves are superb

Lee,
That was after I'd just done you through Craner and was starting to pull away .
I must admit I am quite put out at your suggestion that I was holding everyone up , as one thing I made sure of is that anyone needing to come past was given plenty of room AND a lift of the throttle if required (like for your slow ass ) .

so redkop here we go again, right so what you are saying is there was no flags out when he had his crash(which i felt bad about cause it was a nice car,i also got annoyed that peoiple cheered when he had his off)that crash did not slow the track down 1 bit so every one was going round full speed of course not,the day is for track and parrade laps you all know this when you pay your money,so does this mean the parrade lap people can moan at your partner because people could not see their cars going round the track for as long as it should have been,i did not say BOLLOCKS TO YOU TWAT,I SAID YOU would say bollocks to people moaning about the rs500 crashing and comming on a web site to moan about losing time or going slower round track or not having a proper track preped car, this is what all you so called experts are doing, nat day is for all and yes dingy i was on track at siverstone 1st time ever in my road car ooooooo the shame and there was an off rs seb lost us 7 mins of our 20 mins session did we moan noooooo we had a laugh about it,so please stop moaning people it was a good day, redkop i suggest you read my post properly before calling me a twat TWAT look a smile and another

I have to agree with the rants over the track time, it was crap.......
we had 2 drivers using same car and in same group and very soon relised that we'd get next to no time in the driving seat, Luckily we were able to arrange a go in the group B and C, thanks to some understanding RSOC officals.
The RSOC done a good job, just wish the same could be said to some of the cars on track, but at least afternoon sessions had wittled out most of the unrelability..
mechanical problems happen all the time it can't be helped, it is something you have to take with every event like this (including Croft) but as to people going off into Gravel by driver error is not forgiving, same for something gong bang on track and not pulling over to a safe zone area away from the track that way we can still run under yellow caution for that area and recovery at end of session when on cool down lap.
Driving standards were bad, and i think some of that was due to frustration of not having time on track, and some made the most of what little time they did have, by going a little wild at times.
some very fast cars, some good drivers, some dangerous drivers...
i did have a couple of good sessions at end of the day.
but i think it will be my last nat track day, shame as i have had some good ones.
cheers.................Ken

If you got a problem why not call the RSOC up and ask for a refund/don't do it next year. Moaning on here aint going to help. If you don't like the way the club is run vote them off and vote in people you think will run it the way you want...

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the day a lot, but was well miffed with all the red flags in both Int and Expert. The sessions (I think there were 2) that weren't red flagged were at max 8-10 minutes long (maybe less) only and not the 20 mins they were supposed to be. I defy anybody not to be pissed off about that having paid Ł150 to go on track.

THink i have caused up a stair.....
At the end of the day the driving of some people was bad, some cars weren't worthy of being on the track and the dinner break/display was over 2 hours.....
I would like to do it again, but simlpy can't justify the money for the time....its plain as...
As for complaining Jon, i have emailed the RSOC with some details and got little response - They are going to lookin to changing but not sure what.
Maybe if a session cause's time delay - this happened in all 3 sessions at the start of the day then the people should be banned for a session - that way they get time to get rid of the red mist and/or sort the car out from problems they had instead of rushing back out on track....

As others have said its not the RSOC at fault, and i will be bringing up a couple of suggestions at the AGM this year as to how, hopefully, the issues this year are not repeated.
These suggestions are; Bring back Scrutineering, i know it slows things down in the morning but 'may' help prevent some of the failures we saw on Sunday, (Its not the answer i know, as Saturday track time was OK).
Use Donnington Circuits Track rules, simply being you come off in the first few sessions its the Individual that is punished and have time taken away, not the other track users.
Am unsure as to how you can control/police the poor driving, maybe if after a session you feel you have been badly overtaken, pushed off line into a braking zone etc... you can report them? then if that driver continues to drive in that style and gets several negative comments is black flagged for a session??
