Option 1: 2mb will depend on BT having upgraded your exchange, if you have it already then Demon (not the cheapest) and Bulldog are doing this (www.bulldogdsl.com).
Option 2:If you want more than 2mb, you need to find someone who is doing Unbundled Local Loop in your area, each and every ISP has different coverage since they are effectively installing their own DSL network so availability outside of major cities is still patchy (bit like BT three years ago).
Even then, 2mb is not guaranteed, but they may be able to provide you with telephone services meaning you no longer have to pay BT a penny, quite a saving in itself Oh, and you should be able to keep your current telephone number too.
Note: Despite what everybody says, if you choose option 2, be prepared for a few teething problems as both BT and the ISPs are still figuring out how to make all this work Let's say I have an inside track
Hope this helps.
