Default Focus wipers lifting at 140

Has anybody else had there wipers move to the top of the screen at high speed.
Driving gaffers focus rs back from ford fair i thought i would see what she could do, anything above 140 the wipers move up. Surely this is a fault with the car as my old s2 wipers remain still at these speeds.

I think he means they are just going up by themselves due to the wind, without the wipers being turned on.

It definitely shouldn't happen, been to the limiter in 5th in NathR's Focus RS and they didn't budge.

so what your saying is 140mph on in daylight in the dry on a clear road (must of been pretty clear to get to 140+ lol) is more dangerous than 30mph in sheet ice outside a school at 8:50 on a monday morning just because its illegal??

140 in the wet - fookin tool.
The boss 'expects' to have the co. hack thrashed? He sounds like an irresponsible tool as well.

Ford won't do anything anyway, they can only test vehicles within the legal limits.

fooking hell guys

lets be serious here, he was doing 140 on a road, if he managed to keep at that speed it was clear !!!!!

it wasnt raining yesturday so he never done it in the wet unless he went his own fordfair last week

i hit the speed limiter in a 350z on the M25, not the greatest road btw for speeding and i never had a crash, mind it was totally dead, was at the same time as the mins silence though which could explain it but just think i was lucky

we all do it at times, dont have a pop just cause he was testing a car out, 140 in a new car aint the same as 140 in a old car, hell i can do 130 in me cossie just driving along

doing it at night is harder as theres less distance to see, meaning that ya have less reaction time

as for keep it to the track, people moan on here when people take it to the track and have fun as they dont like it

bosses expect ya to give a quick car a ragging but i still got pulled to one side when i moved a senior manager over to get past him, but he prides him self on being a fast driver so i think it was his ego i offened tbh

but look what happened to him

and he deliberatly crashed an F1 car, just to get pole position once.
(fookin booted it out of the last corner, knew he'd crash as he crossed the line, but would get the time needed)

insanity or genius!?

anyways.. Back to topic. lol

it was dry lads, clear stretch of m1 so i decided to plant it with 350 bhp it does not take long to hit the limiter in fith. Dont know why you all assume it was raining, just saying the wipers moved at 140

I heard it was snowing at the time and you was on slicks

Pee Vee - Yeah I remember that. French GP that was if I remember rightly. I call that the total pursuit of perfection at all costs. Damn original thinking too. He still (jsut) holds the record number of poles from Schuey but took over 100 less races to do it in. Puts the Germans efforts into perspective if you ask me

Damn original thinking too
not really as a guy died on that same corner ion qualifying the day before, it was a track issue not a driver crashing to be the best a day after another driver gets killed on the same section

buy wipers with spiler blades on em.

4 or 5 quid dearer than the other ones, but thats what the spoiler bit is designed for.

As for 140mph, most cars wipers dont really work well after 100mph

thats the worst advice you could give

spoiler baldes should only be used on 1 arm only, never on both, also spoiler blades cause extra resistance on the motor and making it burn out quicker, hice why at 100mph the spoilerblades aitn as quick as normal ones

but the issue ya got is strange at that speed as cossies ect dont do it so get it looked at, theres another issue causing it

next time it happens ask the copper who tugs ya why hes didnt to that

Actually it is a 1.3 push rod with a t2 bolted on

come on we all know the focus rs is well capable of 350 bhp with the right mods, SCC's old motor, they carried out the work on it.

I was going to say, mine don't, cheers Phil. BTW, think we had some sort of boost/Bluefin issues on that occasion as I've seen a further 8mph out of her since then and it was still pulling.

b19bal - I think you're thinking of a different F1 incident. This was the French GP in 91 and no one was killed as far as I remember on any of those race weekends. Senna was said to have spun the car on the last corner on purpose due to the proximity of the lap finish line.

Having driven the car several times, and been a passenger in this Focus several times, I can confirm it will blitz 140 mph. Fox - I take it you haven't the first idea what you're talking about then?

Nath - yours is a slow Focus

You've all got the wrong end of the stick, nobody said he was doing 140 in the wet.

The point was that at 140 you shouldn't need your wipers cos you shouldn't be driving at that speed in the wet (let alone in the dry)

lmao at you lot!

Take it to ford and get them to have a geek, they probably won't need to test it at 140 they'll probably just replace the linkage under warranty.

frog YOU are mistaken, i was refering to the people who are sayiong 140 in the wet is wrong

he has the issue of the blades moving when in the dry, in the wet he needs em to move

btw never new it was robs old focus, i was assuming it was another case of "add 15mph as 125 dont sound fast on the net" situation

i recon that ya motor is poohed and not holding it

but then maybe we should just take it as a good reason to keep our speeds down

dont think that car will be too welcome at fords for waranty, the pnly thing there will recognise under the bonnet is the paint code
