Anyone on here work for Ford?
Been to my local dealer for a part for my saff cos, paid the money and they said they'll call me when the part was in.six day's later i got a phone call saying they have no stock at there parts depot and to come and get my money back.Has ford only got one distribution depot in the country and should'nt they of checked the part availability before taking £146 off me,of course i got my money back now but am desperate for the part and according to the not so helpfull parts dept the part i want is not obsolete,so does that mean it's still available?

They should of checked if the part was avab but sometimes it`s hard to do if your busy sometimes.plus theres other search options that take time to find a obsolete part.
What you lookng for i see if i can find one

I dont have the part Number (Finis code) so i'll try and discribe it.
It's a section of the chassis on the n/s rear of the car which starts from the rear floor pan and goes back and up around the inner arch and the rear diff support frame bolts to it,i saw a picture of it at fords on their microfiche and it was labeled
number 2 of about 10 different parts of the rear assembly.
Hope this helps,if not i will try and find out the finis code.
p.s It's a 1988 2wd saff.
Thanx Roy

as doo says, it might be listed on microcat as available, they order it as a stock order to allow a decent price for ya as vor can sometimes reduce a discount if available ( at mine anyway),l they find out daventry dont have it or maybe daventry did have it but it was no longer in service but it was damaged ect and ya got the call
1 week to confirm aint bad considering they rely on a system thats up to date and acurate
could also be a guys genuine mistake, we all make em at times
if ya wanna know for sure then DOO is the man for sourcing parts ( i wanna know his secret ) or pm me the finis and ill find out for ya if i can, wont be till monday though as i dont work weekends for religious regions,,,,,,,,,,,,,, only god himself could force me to do it

Shame that .. cos there are a lot more features in the latest versions, like improved OSI replacement support for instance. A lot of dealers are running on outdated Microcraps .. They just dont bother updating.
Its possible that Merkenish carry one or two of these ... but unlikely.
Failing that, a search on EDIX, but it needs to be worldwide. The dealer then just has the problem of buying from another dealer.
In this case, the stock would show in Rapid, but nothing found in the bin when picked. Most dealers would put stuff like this on stock order, to make money. They get more discount .. and pass a bit to customer, so everyones happy. Just takes longer, cos our systems give priority to VOR orders and warranty parts ship.
It's now getting iffy on availability for sheet metal stuff over 10yrs old. However, this week, we just introduced a new scheme for older parts and RS/Motorsport parts support. That is web-based and offers an instant search of databased parts. This will become available to dealers shortly.

I'm not far from the conference rooms you will prob use!
As for the clips .. PM me the details Alps .. theyre prob on a waiting list from manufacturer. I'm not a magician, but at least we can get a better idea of what's going on.

Alright boys ..
I had a look at the Sierra members earlier. This is the situation ..
They are in the section for "about to be killed off" stuff. There are 10 left of LHS. LHS - Finis-1644593. 5 have gone this year (including one this month)
RHS - Finis-1644591. None left in UK, 12-ish in Spain, 1 in Norway.
It is possible to get the part sent from Spain, I could do it .. It would prob cost net plus postage.
That's it .. All gone after that.
Quite a substantial part. From rear exhaust hangar to front is 5ft 8" long. Spring cone seat is 1/2 way along, and it has the forward mount incl.
