Default need some advice bout my engine!!!!!!

had an MoT yesterday and she passed with flying colours!!!

but a while ago the cat decided to destroy itself
and there a good few hundred quid! (which we didnt have) so i popped down to my local zorst guy and he made me up a de-cat pipe.

well, she went through the emmisions test with a 2.25. which im told is quite good.

but my question is this......... does this mean the car is running extreamly lean??? how can i find out if it is????? and is it a big problem????

cheers

james

2.25 isnt lean, its rich if anything, but thats only at idle, you need to get a wideband kit on it to see what it does all the way up the range.

dont tell you much really...

really need to get out on the road with a wideband lambda in the exhaust if you wanna know what the fueling is like through the rev range

the MoT guy said that normally when he does an emision test on a car that should have a cat it comes out at somink silly like 15!!!!!

would running lean affect power output??? cos ive been thinking the car has lost power recently???

Hmmm.... forgive me for being a twat cos i dont know nothing bout this sort of thing but.......... if its running lean i assume this means theres less petrol going in than normal. so if there is less than there should be then surely there would be a drop in power???????????????????????????????

please correct me if im wrong

You are correct, less petrol

but too much petrol loses you power, not gains it generally
