Default Speeding, Antisocial?

Just wondering, i know its prob a biased view on a car site But is speed Antisocial and if so yes when is it ok and when it isnt?

To me your being a prick if your driving fast theough built up areas, in the day and night! Also if your speed in traffic as its just stupid and you put other people at risk!

However i think its ok if its an empty road in evening/night. On a dual carriageway of M'way when its quiet etc.

Reason i say is earler i was giving the old girl some stick well about 130mph when i past soome old coont in a Daweoo on a Dual carriageway. There was only him and me on it As soon as i past him he was flashing away like fook You think he over racted or is intitaled to?

or the imagrant on his way yo collect his giro \

Ginge, did you not see top gear this week ?

Speed never killed anyone..... Stopping in an instant usually causes the damage that's why I won't upgrade my brakes.... it might kill me

As for Rhys's question, speeding in built up areas, around pubs late at night or on busy motorways is imo antisocial.
Speeding on m'ways when clear isn't...

There will always be some do-gooders on the road who think that it's ok to be on the outside lane, overtaking the invisible man and his car at 70. All the while you are behind them waiting for them to pull in (not bumper bashing), and they think you should slow down cos it's not right to speed

If you're doing 130 on the motorway, and god forbid something goes wrong, that's your choice and will only risk your life....nobody elses...so to me that's left down to personal discretion.
Speeding .....or even going too fast under the speed limitin a built up area....is far more dangerous.
No kids or pedestrians are going to dance into the carriageway on a motorway...

I think the answer is pretty obvious (and stated in the original post) - if you speed in a built up area you are a moron. On the open road I think personal judgement had to come into the equation as well as on a deserted motorway. The way I think of it is - think of the poor bastards who have to scrape you off the motorway if you crash.

Yup, drunks walking home from clubs is a good reason for keeping speeds low, particularly around 2am to be honest

I got done once for 34 in a 30 on bonfire night, there was absolutely no one on the road except for a billy-no-friends copper who wanted to play with his laser gun So 2am is fair game I reckon

Hmmmmm

you've made me think now.. i'm not a mad driver but may have done a considerable amount more than 30 in a 30 zone before, in the middle of the day aswell. However said road only leads to a duel carrigeway so even though i may be speeding i don't class it as dangerous as it's a long straight, wide road with a field one side and airport the other..

However in town/where i live i only usually do 25, as 30 seems too fast imho with parked cars either side of you.. Now people in these areas that speed these are the morons who want they're liecense taking away/endorsed imho.

Motorway is a different kettle of fish, i don't actually speed it's just keeping up with other traffic thats moving at a faster pace than everyone else!?

Often thought the same about a piece of dual carriage way just outside the office which is limited to 40. Until I saw a kid run across all four lanes and jump the central reservation in the process... Not the sort of thing you'd expect there, but I guess it happens often enough that the limit is warranted there.

Yep speeding is stupid but everyone does it, thibg is at 2am in the morning on a stretch of highway but at 6pm in a main road in a built up area and by shops as is the case, some peeps do upto 80mph, this is no joke, that's fookin stupid, and even at around midnight they do easy 100mph down my road

Bit of a blast in moderation is not fine but acceptable, but in moderation and with awareness and consideration

I think speeding is largely ok dependant on the driver. I know for sure i'm a safer drive than my mum even if i'm driving twice as fast as she is

At the end of the day the government is slowly brainwashing us to make us think speeding in any form is unacceptable. 30 or so years ago drink driving was the norm and everyone on the road after pub closing time was considered to be drunk (this is how my dad recalls it anyway driving home after 7 pints using the kirb regularly ) my grandad still doesn't see the problem with drink driving as do a lot of people his age!

Now look at everyone reaction to drink drivers (and rightly so), this will be peoples reaction to speeders in 10 years time if the government get their way Seems to be working already reading this thread
