Default TOTB for fords? ( Passion ford thrash? )

This years TOTB was dominated by skylines, Evo's, Scooby's and really fast cars with turbo bike engines, Not many Ford owner wanted to run coz they didn't want to run side by side of 800+bhp skylines.
Do think that a sort of Ten of the best for fords could be sorted out with classes like
1.6 8v ERST/FRST
2.0 8v ERST/FRST
2.0 16v Zetec Turbo's
RWD Cossys
And so on?
Or Some sort of passion ford thrash
Or am i talking shit and a waste of time?

The EVO boys have a new event 30-130 as its far easier on the transmission. Have a proper totb event & 90% of the Fords would be dead.

Rod why are you being like that ?

Some one sort it out and pay for the hire of a place - bout 5-10k
Timing gear - 500-1000 quid
Isurance - 500-1000 quid

So u need a min of 6k and a max of 12k

Say you have 100 cars @ 100 quid - WHO will pay that ?
Spectators ? who organisers that ?

Need about 30people helping on the day....

its a lot to organise...

Mr M has a good point, if it were say minumm spec etc like TOTB then that may rule out a lot of cars who may want to try and run (and thus reduce money taken ) and only leave the real real big boys who may not want to put there cars on the line for an event like this, plus with no shows and people pulling out you may not get enuff revenue to break even

good idea tho

Why is it such a bad idea Dingy? Not like you to be a negative coont
You ever heard of sponsorship Would just need one of the big 2 mags on board and there is no reason why it couldn't happen! If all these boring car shows can draw the crowds then an event like that if staged/managed correctly should do fine

Spadge - not being negative - being realistic.

I for one will offer my full support mate, and help if need be, but its going to take some organisation thats all....

I don't mind helping with this, maybe get the backing of the RSOC for such an event as they have the insurance etc....

I suppose you mean its gonne be the same as scoobyshoot out but for cossies? problem being at SSO there were a hundred or so scoobs competing plus it was boring to spectate just seeing the same cars over and over. Your problem would be getting a good amount of cossie owners to agree to race and then getting them to turn up!

i really think this should get rolling, the rs scene is Massive and as Spadge says if you can get a decent turnout to some of these crap shows then surely all of us enthusiasts would love to go and spectate what we are enthusiastic about! i would pay to see all the different spec cossies and rs turbo's giving it some hell there are enough good spec cars on this site alone to make most people interested, not to mention all the others out there.

Your right it would take a lot of organising i agree, but on the EVO Forum they have 40 cars entered & 20+ in reserve. My Cossie was entered but now withdrawn.

Surely if its strong enough launches wont bother it... ?

I have broke my axle once in 7 years launching then uprated it to take it, not been a problem in loads of launch's and about 30 track days

Need to get a venue in mind and a date first of all.

need to get some people together to organise it....maybe at a meet somewhere

I
Agree but ive uprated everything several times & it still broke, many 450+ Cossies run standard box/Diff & are OK on the road in a competition against similar cars the red mist will decend & boxes & Diffs will be at risk. Most aint got the money to get a proper fix just for an event.

Maybe you need to uprate it again....

If a car is drivin properly a stage 3 cossie will eat box's and diff's lol not sure what difference that makes to you though.

I went to get my axle and said it needs to take 550bhp and so far its not broke

Shit Luck Rod.

Your all going about this the wrong day. Elvington have plenty of days like totb, where it's only 30 quid to run! It's not busy at all, so 50 fords turning up won't be a problem at all. No queing, and you get as many runs as you like. All we need to do is choose a day, and get everyone to turn up.

This idea could turn into something decent, given enough work and trouble as Steve says... thing is though, it needs bankrolling and its a massive risk because, and i dread to say this, but, The Ford fraternity are generally quite well known for not turning up on the day or deciding not to pay at last minute.. and who wants to lay Ł12K on a promise?

30mph roll on also sounds fine to me.... will allow some cars into the game that have far less money invested in transmissions than the "Big players" as they personally drive around the weaknesses during day to day driving.. as i do myself with my own car.

Deffo an interesting thought............

Problem is the Fords would still come in the bottom half of the top 10.

More seriously, its the sort of event that could be run alongside National or a regional day. Has anyone ever suggested using Bruntingthorpe for National Day? Certainly big enough.
