Default ANOTHER pic request F1 this time!

hi all.
has anyone got a picture (or know on the net where there is one)
Of a Formula 1 engine, showing the Fuel injection system

they are interesting in as much as the injectors are suspended
ABOVE the trumpets to the trottle bodies (or they used to be)
Due to high revs i think

just trying to find a pic!

RS500 inlet with 4+4 injectors, with four of the positioned at the end of the trumpets.

Yeah but on the RS500 inlet the injector heads sit inside the manifold just infront of the trumpets in the plenum. The F1 engines spray through mid air, not in an enclosed environment, straight into the inlet relying only on the engine sucking the fuel in.

Obviously thats cos the RS500 is turbo, and the F1 engine aint, but you see my point

Forgive me for being a bit dumb but is that very accurate? I mean there has got to be a certain ammount of fuel (if only very small ammount) that doesnt get sucked into the engine or gets sprayed and then sucked into the trumpet next to it

Wouldnt it be more accurate to spray it direct into the valve port ???

Now thats what I call an injection system! Love the fog of fuel vapour over the inlets in the F1 vid

IIRC spraying it like the F1 engine does as a pose to injecting it into a port (direct port injection) helps the fuel atomise much better, you get an almost perfect mist of air/fuel which pretty much 90% of it gets burt. It all boils down to fitting as much air/fuel into a pot for detonation....it means more power for fuel spent.
