Default My sister was suspended from work, does this sound right tho

Just got off the phone to my sister, who was suspended from work today, (tomorrows her last day anyway lol)
On monday she filled out a time card for one of her staff, added 3 days to much, (she said one member of staff did 3 days overtime when she didnt) then today securit and head office guy march into the office, basically frogmarch her out the office, briefly interview her, then march her to her car, suspend her and she has another interview to go to tomorrow.

I have told her she was an idiot doing what she did,(the shop worker asked her to do what she did as shew has shit loads of money worries or whatever) but to me that seems amazingly overkill, considering so far they havnt spoken to the person who had didnt work the time etc, or anyone else in the branch about this, so i am thinking theres something her not right

does this sound right?

If Im reading it right. Yes to be honest.

She knowingly filled out for the overtime to help someone else out. Shes effectively allowing stealing from the company.

This could seriously jepordise her next job too. Though I would hope not.

yeah, i just thought it was very very over the top and overkill, i mean 2 secruity guards and other peep, i mean shes only 5ft2, and then to escort her to her car in the car park not connected with her store, i just thought it sounded odd.
I have read her the riot act tho for being an idiot for what she did

Seems pretty fair to me. She attempted to cheat her employers and got caught out. Will have to wait and see what they want to do about it.

What did she expect? A pat on the back and nevermind?!

surly tho before they start doing the big frogmarching and escorting it would be prudent to speak to all parties etc? from what i gather they marched in, marched her out, and so far then pretty much left, and havent spoken to anyone else seems very odd. what she did was wrong and she deserves what she gets, i dont condone her actions just the way it was handled

They have acted exactly how they should of tbh Gra.

She is in a position of authority and can thus damage the Company further if she is found to be dishonest.

They have the right to suspend immediately on the spot and escort the person from the premises whilst a full investigation is carried out. This is not them saying she is guilty, this is their way of doing a through investigation without the concerned parties able to sabbotage any evidence and if they are a disgruntled employee it will stop them from doing more damage to the Company by abusing their position.

If your sister is guilty of doing it and she's going to a new job she can probably kiss goodbye to that im afraid

Yep, I can see ya point. Depends on the type of company she works for I guess. Sounds like a pretty big impersonal company to me. Suppose they just have their set rules and channels to go through. Hopefully she will be ok and just learn from the nieve mistake.

They only should have escorted her off the company property, however there is not a leg to stand on. I would send your sister to see a solicitor immediately as the company will probably attempt to take her for fraud. Never mind the reference the only thing she will get if they take it further, is a criminal record.

gra they done the job proper mate, its to stop her talking to others and also to makesure shes treated fair, if shes honest then shes been treated exaclty the same, the security is to make sure she or her boss dont kick of and have a row

shes also got the right to gain legal advice BEFORE her next meeting and she can hold off the meeting for upto 5 working days to gain legal advice and if shes in a union is allowed to have a union rep present or a fellow member of staff to take miniuates,,,,,,,, they are not allowed to talk though, just take notes

ive done a small bit in disapline prcedures and ive looked into it before, what she done was wrong but we all fall off the bridge at times

she will konow next time and the company will learn from it too

also shes not allowed to talk to any member of staff about the situation untill the meeting has taken place
