Redeye Jedi

Found out that my speedo drive had snapped inside the gearbox so i bought a replacement drive today and also got a new pinion gear. Gotta try and fit it tomorrow but looks a right mission!! The cable enters the box at the back right in the middle of an engine mount! Anyone done one before by any slim chance?? Would i need to take the gearbox right out to change it??

What does the actual part look like? Is the gear that goes into the gearbox larger than the shaft?
