Default New MOT system,nightmare!

Just taken the saff for it's MOT,passed, thank fu*k!
New system is a bloody nightmare, all computerised, put in your chassis no. etc, mine came up as a 3-door Tester has to take a set amount of time to do the test before the computer will let him back on to say passed or failed. If he puts any wrong details in,VOSA are on the phone in 10 mins. asking whats going on!
Apparently they've started this scheme in the NE,but it's slowly going nationwide, get yer dodgy one's while you can
Big brother is watching...

is engine number in the MOT test?
i.e. does it have to match up with V5 info?

On me saff the last 5 no's of the VIN are the engine no. He didn't check the actual no. on the block tho. There are ways around it,and the system is still new at the moment and also not entirely accurate, hence my saff being a 3-door. Proper pain in the arse for the guys using it tho.

Unless you've got a very late saff it won't apply,he checked mine cos i asked.
1.2% CO at idle. Nice one MSD!
Was 6% at idle last year.

The new Test Certificate looks a bit odd as well. States on it whether an advisory note was issued or not

I saw a post on another site where the rear brakes on a Fiesta just passed on the brake tester, when the Mot tester inputted the data into the online system it produced a fail on rear brake efficiency...

Does the online system print the certificate as well?

Told me the paper isn't actually a certificate as such,as it's now all stored electronically,so when you go to tax your car, they'll tell you if it's tested or not.
BIG changes going on,more and more bollox for motorists to deal with.

I LOVE the new MOT system, its much easier to find out if one of our vehicles has been MOT'd rather than ringing round Dealerships and Garages waiting for someone to own up to it so we can get a duplicate, now its one phone call, and bobs your uncle

why are you lot complaining? surely the only reason you'd have to be unhappy about the system is if you car isnt legal / roadworthy?

surely you can see the benefits of less deathtraps on the road?

bit like tax cameras... you dont wanna get nicked for not having tax? BUY A TAX DISC

Gotta agree with Jim... I can quie hapilly get a dodgy or not exactly straight MOT off any number of people BUT whats the point.. If you have to do it your car isn't straight or is dodgy.. theres no other reason.. They're just as expensive.

I have just had mine done, they also said it was a 3 door ! had a bit of an
argument with the MOT bloke !!

Its also a pain in the ass you cannot change the Co level aswell as mine always runs
over the limit, so needs turning down.

You also have to wait the full hour as VOSA say thats how long a proper MOT will Take.

It failed on the poxy hand brake calliper/worm gear thing !!, so thought fook this
bought two new re-con ones !!

Still had to pay the Ł42.00 quid tho, then take it back for a re-test, so another MOT fee !!

Can wait till next year

You people have had some ancient MOT test compared to us for quite some time and you haven't even got it bad yet!

Here you can't tune the car more than 20%, you can't change the engine to anything other if it means more than 20% power. Bigger brakes is not allowed as they have to be proven by ford if they will work with the car. Alloys can't stick out of the arch. Ohhh the pain.. but thank god for those small loopholes
