Check out this weeks Autocar. A Bentley Flying Spur did 206mph at Nardo, with 4 guys on board in Air-conned comfort. Thats 2mph faster than a Murcielargo went at the same track as I remember

BMWs are cars for people who aren't into cars, but 500bhp in anything deserves a little nod of respect

BMW's are proper driving tools you tit!

I've had a E30 M3, E34 M5, E30 323i Hartge (2.7 litres) so i do feel qualified to comment

Was at Brunters with one of these 600+bhp/600+torque Bentleys on test the day of the 200run it could not reach 185 down Brunters. maybe a trip to Nardo is needed with mine. How long is it.

LOL at that comment, im into my cars, i just sold my escort cossie for the BMW 320(yes 320 lol) 2.2 below. I do not regret it, as the BMW is sooo much smoother and comfortable to drive as an everyday car (which is what i wanted). That and i need a house LOL

The M5 is an awesome machine, i got pics of Hartge's version somewhere!!

Its a bowl mate so really has no beginning or end I think one lap is 8 miles.

I'll have a quick check.

Better place is the old Soviet air base some where in Eastern Europe. Porsche launched the Carrera GT there. The Journos said it made Brunters look like a very small carpark. The Carrera could do 0-200-0 TWICE with ease on the straight!

No, was some German racing driver called Jocham Schmit (sp?) who I believe is now her husband.... .

Was very good for the ego when one of the passengers that were in the 'Ring Taxi came over and said how impressed Jocham was with both the car and driving .

I only wish I had the full monte so I could have blitzed him on the faster bits, but I could only run that amount of boost due to the ignition leads having dropped down under the oil breather exit pipe, which covered them in oil, which meant they were arcing out on anything higher .

Mind you, this meant that we were fairly equal power to weight (as I couldn't make any in-roads on him on the fast sections, but he couldn't pull away either). However, where I would be up his chuff was in all the braking areas and out of the corners, but he was determined not to let me past . I eventually forced my way through at Adenau Forst, while he was show-boating for the spectators . Didn't see sight nor sound of him after that...

Prefer the new M6. Same wicked engine with the stainless manifold (artwork), a smidge lighter and looks a lot tastier. Carbon roof, too
I dought the brakes are crap, Mike - 376mm front and 370mm rear I believe. Hopefully calipers to match.
M5 is pig-ugly, unfortunatley and hasn't got the road presence of the 6.

Still - I'm not really into cars, either

Newts,
Obviously you aren't into cars, or you would know that all the M cars (including the new M5) get slated for their shit brakes . They may be large, but they still use a poxy sliding caliper and one big stop is enough to fade them . Might be something to do with the weight it is trying to stop mind you .

Fookin shite program, still shame I missed the car!

I do prefer the new M6 over the M5 tho, prefer coupe's as opposed to 4 doors But I'm sure I read somewhere that the new M5 does 205mph, not necessarily in 1.25miles tho Rod!
