Thing is OUT OF THE BOX - is irrelevant. All of these cars are so old that none are standard, so that argument is irrelevant.

I am on my first performance Ford, and looked at all of the options and Cossies represent best value for what they are.

Looked at 200SX's, E30 M3 BM's and the like - Not a huge fan of the looks of a Saph, but if my budget had been lower, I still would have gone for it.

I love my Sapphire but i aint blinkered the only good thing over others cars is the engine/box...........Escos's are ok..but i dont think there any better than a Saff plus Dave owns one 3dr's are not nice imo...but again its the engine.

I bought a Saff to get into the cheap world of Cosworth as looking around the jap stuff appeared too complex mechanically......

Out of the box if your looking at Sapphire prices and going on std these ARE the order to buy them (imo ) in if you just want a runner and no tuning:

1....Celica GT4
2....FTO
3....Imprezza
4....Sapphire
5....Pulsar

Bare in mind NO TUNING before the cocks come on and say they are shit when they own a bean tin ............if tuning is your game...Cossie wins hands down for not only power per pound but relative simple mechanics.

200sx is the way forward though for the money. The newer shape ones that look pony as standard but great with just a set of wheels and lowered. Cool cars and make an easy 300bhp, relaible, tunable, RWD and a bit different!

John felstead took me around the Ring in his. Cool car, very fast as well!

Saffs are great for performance per pound if you get a good one and can be practical as well, but I would rather have the 200sx or the Fiat. Sorry
