Hi Rad,

Have just PM'd you and re-sent your quotation with the improvements to rating for experienced drivers.

Saves you about £230 on the quote that we did before.

Once again thanks for your input, our schemes are designed to be fairly broad but if youre a PM member and are having no joy let me know and i'll do my best to expand your part of the scheme.

Kindest regards

Tony

just thought i'd add some feedback

your turn around time on the online request is excellent! less that 1/2 hour some other companies could learn a thing or 2 from that...

however the quote is not! £497!!! and thats before i even mention a modification!
My renewal, is £315 this year with all the mods declared and more power! (my power was less that anticipated on a RR)

couple this with the silly quote you gave me over a year ago on the TVR i don't think i'll be recommending greenlight to my friends/fellow club members

tony, the reason my current insurers are good on price is that ive been with them for ages. They dont just see "21, 200bhp sierra" they look at my history. ive owned powerfull cars since the day i passed my driving test, and have a flawless driving record.

now ive just PMed you, if you can make the 1050 quote down to 999.99 then you've got a deal...

i'm just sick of people asking "how much does that cost to insure" and always having to reply with an answer in the THOUSANDS

i still reeeeealy need drive any cars tho and i'm currently doing it @ £20 per week if i borrow a car (but i have to OWN the car, so i have to either lie, or register it in my name ) my mum's insurers wont insure me on her nissan micra... aparently i cant cope with all that power running thru the front wheels until i'm 25 altho to be fair it is more dangerous, i hit a badger in it the other nite, coz the brakes were so shite i couldnt slow the car down... lol if that had been the saph i woulda missed it by a mile

Jim,

PM me the granada details mate and i'll see what I can do.

With your record i'm sure that we can allow an introductory discount to match the NCB on the first policy and see where that leaves us.

Kind regards

Tony

Ps. Failing this you better get some AP Racing discs/calipers on that Micra as it sounds like the micra could seriously damage your health (and endanger badger-kind).

I am in the same position. One Merc Vito Van, One Discovery and the Cossie which has done 600 miles in the last two years. Both the missus and I are over 30 and we both have full NCB. Whats the chances.

Graham

Graham,

We are usually better for performance & modded vehicles, but one of our underwriters is bending over backwards to pick up commercial vehicle business - so I'll give them a go for you.

The whole "3 cars with 2 drivers" scenario does attract underwriters and we'll certainly get some flexibility/rate reductions.

With the limited mileage situation, this will make a big difference to the Cossie premium too.

Probably best to call rather than use the net as the multi-vehicle quotes are more of a bespoke arrangement.

Sounds like you have the perfect combo - Van, 4x4 and Cossie - excellent work!

Kindest regards

Tony[/quote]

I called last week and was quoted £1150 for all three vehicles which is about £100 more than I paid for them seperately last year. I also gave your number to a friend of mine for his L200 and MR2 but he was told you did not do commercial insurance!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to help you guys out here and your staff are contradicting you.

Any ideas why this has happened mate?

Graham..

I'll look into it tommorow mate and let you know.

You say that we're £100 more than you paid last year buddy, what about this year's rate - how do we compare to this year?

Your help is very much appreciated on the recommendation front.. we are way better at performance vehicles and do not usually aim for commercials, but we can offer open market rates - which is what we would usually do.

Did he mention that you recommended him buddy??

greenlight sound like a good insurance company aside from one thing

"Drivers must be aged 21 (25 for Imports) or over with at least 1 years No Claims Bonus"

what am i supposed to do, being 19? either i get a quote for over £1500, regardless of the car, or insurance company, (no really, go try it. pretend to be 19 and see how ridiculous the quotes are for a shitheap worth £20) or i can't get a quote because of my age!

it's no wonder people drive around with no insurance. absolute fucking joke.

i no longer drive a ford btw but this is along the same lines and i thought the greenlight guy might have some input/recommendations on companies to use.

also everyone i know that has had to claim, has either got a shit payout or had to wait months and months. insurance companies are fine until you want something FROM THEM.

Tony,

Yes he did mention I had recommended him but that did not seem to register. I dont think my friend was impressed.

On another note I have just called my insurer as the Landrover is due at the end of the month (the other two are due in November) and I have been quoted £267 for the Disco and just under the £1000 for all three.

Hi Taz,

Sorry to hear about your buddy..

The multi-vehicle situation is not a totally system rated product and when several differing vehicles (ie. car/van/4x4/pick up) are involved is rated on an ad-hoc basis, so the best bet would probably to speak to Neil here.

A £1000 premium for 3 vehicles, including a mercedes, a discovery and a cosworth is a very good rate. I think from what Neil was saying we worked out at £1150 for all 3.

I'll speak to Neil and review the quote with him to see if there is anywthing we can do to reduce the rate further.

I'll PM you next week buddy, in the meantime have a good weekend.

Kind regards

Tony

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I have been sounding out underwriters as to whether they would look to cover your vehicle.

Whilst it sounds like it will be the ultimate Mk1 Escort, with a price tag of £30,000 for a mk1 underwriters are reluctant to provide terms and im having to push them to see if I can get this placed for you.

I'll PM you as soon as I have any news.

Hi AL,

You will probably find that most of the Insurance market will react in a similar way to the underwriters that we have approached to date.

Their immediate reaction is that £30k seems very high for a mk1 escort, they then try and approximate/estimate for themselves as to what each aspect (ie. shell, engine, transmission) would cost.

In addition, they look at the "new" cost of vehicles such as the Escort Cosworth and the Sierra Cosworth, both of which are some £8000 less than your creation.

Also, Underwriters look at other vehicles that retail for a similar rate to your vehicle in an attempt to assist with assessing features and establishing a market value - A £30,000 budget would equate to a Porsche Boxster, Audi TT, Subaru Impreza STi (with PPP), BMW 330, Lotus Exige or Mitsubishi Lancer EVO.

Realistically, I dont think it will be a case of reducing the value, it's more a case of establishing the correct value and then showing the respective underwriters how we came to this.

To do so we will need copies of all receipts, from purchase receipt of base vehicle to all component parts that you have used upon the vehicle.

Probably the best way of doing this would be to copy & post or fax to me on 01277 263773.

Your receipts will be treated as highly confidential and used for the aforementioned purpose only, then if we are unable to proceed with arranging cover they will be securely disposed of by shredding.

At this stage I cant promise that we will be able to place your vehicle, but with the groundwork done we stand a far better chance of success.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Spoon,

There is a company that will quote for drivers aged 18-20, but I dont think they will do much in the way of mods.

We suggest them as they do specialise in purely 18-20's, but this is usually for standard 'run of the mill' cars.

The company is A-Quote and their number is 0800 298 2836.

If you're aged 21+ with a years bonus Greenlight are competitive, so call us on 01277 263030 or visit our website for a quote. But until you get there A-Quote will try their best to help.

Kind regards

Tony

Thanks AL,

Sounds like it's going to be a monster when it's finished!

When youre thereabouts we'll collate the documents and do our best to find an underwriter that offers you the cover that you need.

Tony,

I am currently coming to near completion on the cabbie project (see link in siggy) and will soon need ins cover.

Now its coming to the end of the year so will only want cover up until end of October-ish, if this is not possible is it ok to goto a laid-up policy/cover to cover the car being laid up until spring time?

How does it work if i do require to take the car out say mid-laid up time? Is it just a phone call to advise? (Just in case theres a sudden snow fall and i feel the urge to drive roof down )

How does it work with mods and alike, do i have to supply you with a complete list of everything i've done? What about classic ins? As the cabbies 20 years old now

I am currently insured with Chruchill on my Mondy with i think 4 years ncb, fully comp.

I have more questions, think that'll do for now tho

Paul.

Hi Paul,

With regards to short term or laid up cover, greenlight don't offer these type of policies.

What we do offer is a discount based upon limited mileage, so assuming that the policy started now it would run for a year and you would advise the amount of road miles that you anticipate to use in a year (ie. 3000).

Our policy would allow a discount to reflect the fact that you are doing far less miles than an everyday motorist and you would have cover whilst your vehicle was not being used, plus you would be paying for only the miles that you use.

The advantage this way is that you wouldn't have to remember to call to add road cover (and pay the associated admin charges), you would also build a no claims bonus under our road policy.

Your vehicle would also be road legal all year round and could be left on the road, rather than having to be garaged or kept off road every day.

We also allow discounts for drivers that have other everyday vehicles and can match NCB % across where there hasnt been a fault/non-recoverable claim.

You mentioned classic cover, this cover is generally only available to original vehicles or vehicles that have been restored to a pristine original condition. True classic car policies do not earn no claims bonus and do not offer cover for modifed vehicles.

Whilst some brokers have abused their schemes by placing vehicles upon classic schemes that are outside of the intended use of the scheme, this is a short term view and following Insurer audit it is likely the scheme will be withdrawn and the premiums will increase.

Greenlight are looking to be here for the long term and would not abuse a classic scheme in this manner.

Our modified vehicle schemes give discounts for limited mileage, 2nd vehicles, allow all year use, have a bonus match facility, earn a no claims bonus - PLUS have a concession for Passion Ford members..

What more could you ask for?

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Paul,

If you click the banner at the bottom of my post it will take you to our wesite and you can pop your details on there - takes about 2 mins.

We'll review it and send you back a quote buddy.

Then at least you have an idea of a rate and a reference number that we can trace you by, along with a written (e-mail) confirmation of the policy price and cover.

The internet works pretty well for us, but if you prefer within office hours you can call us on 01277 263030 between 9-5 and we will be able to help.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Adam,

The latest passion ford schemes that we have launched last week include a facility that we have negotiated with 5 underwriters to allow your bonus percentage to be matched to a 2nd policy.

This is subject to your not having a fault or non-recoverable incident within the last 4 years and the drivers under the policy with the "matched" discount must be restricted to either you only, or drivers that have earned at least the same level as the matched discount in their own name under their own policy.

Our underwriters have enhanced their schemes in a common sense manner, which will benefit all concerned - Thus the launch of the Passion ford scheme.

So.. if you have 5 minutes, call us or log on via the link in my banner at the bottom of my message and we'll quote for you.

With the introductory discount in mind it may prove better to call tomorrow between 9-5 and we can quote for you.

Kind regards

Tony
